I like the paint but it's a shame it ends at the tail. I'll probably skip this for a possible HC one.

Gwangi

I skip every dinosaur that I think might have an HC version some day. So no new Carnotaurus or Indominus will ever tempt me.

I'm starting to get into that mindset as well. Have been cutting down my mainline acquisitions for a while now, the HC now releasing all sorts of things while the mainline flounders cements this idea.

Just ordered the HC Concavenator and Ankylosaurus from Rexy Reviews UK (since Toyopolis has been letting so many collectors down recently). If I like them enough, will definitely look into replacing my JWFK Ankylosaurus and Dino Rivals Concavenator.

I replaced my FK Anky with it but they are different enough you could keep both. I also have the CC Bumpy which is why I let the FK one go.

Don't know if the factory is rushing these out or not, but the most recent batch of Red Rexes have noticeably more QC defects than the initial wave. The connection seams across the board are more sloppy than previously as well.

I know these are toys at the end of the day, but would be a shame if a precedent is set that the only way to get a defect-free figure would be from the first batch. :-\

Faelrin

That would be even more unfortunate for those of us in the US, where these aren't even in stores yet. Don't know why Target is taking their sweet time on everything, when numerous other retailers have beaten them to the punch on things. They still don't have the new batch of HC dinosaurs yet. Really glad I've decided to take my business elsewhere. Unfortunately in the case of the JP 30th stuff, probably gonna have to wait for them to eventually get it. Fingers crossed they will by June since that is the anniversary month.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I wonder if Target is dumping the HC line. Everyone else is getting stock before them. Just canceled my Pachy from them since my Amazon order shipped .

DinoFan2010

Completely off topic, but the Hammond Collection Ceratosaurus is currently 55 dollars on Amazon

Understandable, it's out of production, but eBay sometimes has them cheaper.

I really don't understand why Mattel's making the same mistakes they did with the Amber Collection.

Popular figures getting pulled from shelves way too soon... Shelf warmers continuously being stocked... Abysmal distribution all around...

Gwangi

Distribution is the worst it has ever been. I guess that's not surprising but I feel like it was at its peak a year ago. I had no problem finding every figure I wanted last spring/summer. It has gotten steadily worth since the fall. Everyone has been talking about finding that damn Herrerasaurus and a few others at Best Buy. I stopped by there yesterday. Empty shelves, not a single Jurassic World toy, same as the last time I checked a month ago. It's not fun to hunt for these things anymore and a lot of them aren't even online. Why isn't Target's website selling the smaller "attack pack" style toys? Why is Target partnered with Mattel and hosting this Beyond the Gate's show when they don't even stock this stuff?

Carnoking

Wonder if this shoddy distribution is thanks to no film/show tie in. Even so, there's still the 30th anniversary this year.

Faelrin

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking A lot of this is definitely on the retailers not caring to stock things, probably like you said no tie in. Definitely reminds me of 2019's distribution issues. Retailers not carrying their exclusives and other hard to find figures. Even early 2020 had these issues until Camp Cretaceous released and things picked up a little as far as the electronic stuff and a few other things went. Last that I've seen as far as Target goes, things from Dominion are still stocked or shelf warming. They really are not moving on.

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi I haven't had the chance to check yet, but that worries me. I don't think Amazon has even restocked them since earlier in the year.

That said I did just see the Herrerasaurus up for pre-order on BBTS:

Entertainment Earth also has it up for pre-order:

They also have the Edaphosaurus up for pre-order:

I think the retailers should be lambasted, but, I have to wonder if *three waves* of product is necessary. Look. I love Mattel Jurassic and I'll defend it viciously, but, three waves of figures is a LOT to collect. Especially with the diminishing paint, QC issues, and the weird non-canon figures like Piatnitzkysaurus...

Is it really necessary for the main line to get three waves a year? I somehow doubt it. So much sits on shelves and retailers are hesitant to stock it on non-movie years (look at how much battle damage stuff was skipped between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion).

Also, another odd thing - a lot of people on Facebook groups are getting the JP 30th banners *from the store* and it isn't even April yet. What the hell is going on there? Did the banners come out too early before the '93 Classic line or something? This rollout seems like an uncoordinated mess and retailers are doing whatever the heck they wish.

My friend in Germany shared with me these pics on FB he found. Not sure the source. Looks like Collect Jurassic and other folks were wrong. This set does have windowed packaging. Figured I'd pass this along for you folks to see here.

The raptor looks pretty bad, but Grant and the accessories look great.

Edit: Just saw another in hand pic of this on the instagram group chat I'm in, and they painted the belly red. Smh. The lack of care on their part is pretty disrespectful to those of us patiently waiting over 5 years for them to do both of these raptors. It's pretty bad when the sup par Legacy Collection one from last year did it better then the supposed collector version despite the wrong eye color.

SWS Female JPIII raptor animatronic for comparison:

Another edit: Looks like this might be the next Legacy Collection reveal. The pattern on the back is a bit more accurate here, then on the 2019 version, but the lack of claw, tail, and belly paint really hurts it. The real impressive stuff is obviously the vehicle, and Eddie (I think). Granted wasn't there another HC T. rex on the way? If that's a buck too (and painted accurately), I might pass on this set, although the vehicle and character is also pretty tempting. Edit 3: Nope. Was Malcolm. Not bad, but would have made much more sense to include Eddie. Also the sculpt appears to be the same old tired too small Legacy sculpt, except maybe a new head.

Edit 5: Here's the 2019 Legacy one for comparison. Much better paint apps on the old one, despite the inaccurate pattern on the back/missing yellow:

suspsy

They should repaint the HC T. rex as the Bull and make a mountain of money instead of presenting collectors with this second rate excuse.
