Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Gwangi

So who wants to review this one for the blog?

Is it time for a "New for 2023" sub-board? We're getting close to the time of year we start hearing about Schleich's next-year plans.

This was a very unexpected but welcome surprise at SDCC.

As someone who grew up with this show, and remembers the original figures, they were very detailed and accurate for the time, but were practically unarticulated and had accessories they couldn't hold or use.

And Baby Sinclair was huge.

Articulated Dinosaurs figures with proper internal scale is something I never knew I wanted so much.

Blade-of-the-Moon

They are up for preorder at Entertainment Earth and BBTS for release October/November this year.

I really hope these sell enough we at least get the rest of the family.  I also wouldn't complain about a Spike figure, WESAYSO work pack with Earl in uniform, Roy and Richfield.  Even a Monica figure though it would HUGE.

BlueKrono

They've gotta at least make Robbie.

Yes yes yes yes yes I am so here for this line.

I'm sure they can and will if it sells well.  Might even get a Wereman for Halloween like they do with the Turtles..but that's way down the line.  I'm sure Charlene would have her add on tail lol

Grandma and her chair! Swamp Beast! I'm really excited for the entire line. Here's hoping these aren't one off's.  I ordered two of each to use the different faces.

Grandma is the one I would want the most out of all the characters.  :))

I'd love it if we got some supporting characters in addition to the main family. BP Ritchfield and Roy would be awesome.

I think I'd buy a roomba just to mount her to it. Maybe add some motion sensor audio " What do you want? "  "Hello Fat Boy" . rofl  ;D

In the original toy line we received all the main family and B.P. , I really wanted Earl's best pal though. Roy and him often got into trouble with Baby so it would make a great set. I'd almost need two though, one in his tree pusher attire and another in his hawaiian shirt.

Maybe if this goes off like Gremlins or Gargoyles we'll get a lot more. Gargoyles expanded quite a bit this year. Maybe some surprises at SDCC.

Gargoyles seems to have been a surprise hit, considering the somewhat niche nature of the property. Also considering there hasn't been a ton of re-use between the figures yet (aside from Goliath/Thailog/Sega Goliath). Big figures with lots of unique tooling, it's quite nice to see. Of course, the price tag reflects that.

If this line hits like Gargoyles did, that would be pretty awesome.

The fans are pretty ravenous for them, I'm not sure DINOSAURS have the same fan base but I really hope so. I've bought most of the Gargoyles so far too, skipped Thailog and the Goliath repaints I detest repaints if they aren't at least changed a bit in sculpt.

I've picked up all the gargoyles thus far. Usually I avoid repaints, but Thailog is actually a unique character, with a different headsculpt than Goliath and a bunch of character-appropriate accessories.

The Sega Goliath is a tougher sell, but I ended up getting it because it came with folded wings, and it looks as close to a "stone" Goliath as anything released so far.

Dinosaurs definitely has less re-use potential, though NECA has found "creative" ways to do so before...but the sheer amount of accessories included, especially with Baby Sinclair, makes me think this is much more "labor of love" than cash cow.

I have to think that if there's a market for Ninja Turtle/Universal Monster hybrids then there has to be a market for the Dinosaurs series. Seriously, I often see NECA products on shelves and wonder who exactly they would appeal to.

That is true, and we need villains for the heroes. Demona was an obvious success there ( I think any female gargoyle will sell lol ), I know a lot want Macbeth too. The Pack would be a great box set.   I'm honestly surprised they aren't considering "stone" versions even if they are static statues to go with other sets.  The original toys they did a stone "skin" that you could pop on and off.   I'm sure we will see the res of Thailog's clan too as they are basically repaints with minor tweaks. That could help lengthen the line while doing other unique characters.

DINOSAURS would certainly have some issues in that department, reusing parts. Earl with work accessories, his sister Pearl, maybe the super hero version of him if you want to dig deep.  Baby..I think all you really need is in this set? He comes with just about everything. I guess they could do some more alternate head sculpts?    Now if they get past the main cast and start doing the random other dinos like Robbie's gf, the doctor, ect.. those are mainly just costumes they used to make other characters.  I think a Howard Handupme figure would be pretty cool..or a Mr. Lizardset lol

I hope so.  I almost feared these were canceled. Currently I get the Gargoyles, Universal Monsters, and the more modern screen monsters from them. I do have a lot of their Aliens and a full set of the Nightmare Before Christmas figures.

I think at minimum we'll get a "work" version of Earl. The lunchbox and hardhat are both "iconic" enough that their absence in the initial Earl figure is pretty telling. They'll probably use the same body, include a new facial expression head, and a cloth work shirt.

I would still get it easy.  The " Poor Slob with Terrible Job " version..bonus if it includes a tree and Rizzick ( sp?).  I just can't help wanting a bunch of others. Aside from Jurassic Park I did play with the older figures. I couldn't quite figure out how to make their volcanic house so I just stacked rocks together at the creek. lol

I had the entire set of the older toys too and would play with them alongside my other, more traditional, dinosaur toys. The finale of that show absolutely crushed me.
