My second children's book, The Tyrannosaur's Feathers, will be published later this year, and I'm excited to reveal the front cover.

It's scheduled for release on 4th August 2023 and is a 'kind-of' sequel to The Plesiosaur's Neck (2021) (https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=8480.0), written again in collaboration with Jonathan Emmett and published by UCLan Publishing. However, we have a different illustrator this time, the amazing Stieven Van der Poorten. If you haven't seen his distinctive and wonderful palaeoart, take a look: https://stieven.com

Here's the blurb for the book.

"Tyrannosaurus rex may be the king of the dinosaurs, but that doesn't stop know-it-all Velociraptor from telling him he looks old-fashioned and needs a makeover. So, with an improved posture, some restyled body parts and a coat of shaggy feathers, T. rex gets a new look to match the latest evidence. From the authors of The Plesiosaur's Neck, The Tyrannosaur's Feathers takes an amusing and informative look at how new discoveries have transformed our understanding of T. rex's appearance since this giant prehistoric predator was first unearthed over a century ago."

It's already available to preorder on Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1915235596/) but will be widely available from other bookstores.

I'll share more details soon.

Very interesting, you have been quite busy over the last years! I´ll be definitively getting myself a copy.  I like the palaeoart of Stieven Van der Pooren, albeit tends to antropomorphise his animals a little too much for my taste.

They are a touch anthropomorphised, this works brilliantly for a children's picture book where the animals are also characters. The key is that they are both charismatic and accurate. :) Accuracy was particularly important in this book, as "inaccuracies" gradually get corrected throughout it, so even the inaccuracies had to be accurate!

Awesome! Congrats! Can't wait to add it to my children's library.

I'll certainly purchase a copy for my boys.

I've updated the front cover in the first post with a higher definition image. ^-^

It's an eye-catching cover, both for image and text treatment.  The "rip" is fun and effective and the "hand corrected" addition of "'s feathers" is exceedingly neat.

Thank you for saying so. They were both Jonathan's ideas, he's very creative!

My advance copies arrived today and the book looks fantastic, even better in person!

And here's part of the rear cover. That face you make when you realise you're meticulously inaccurate:

I've just posted a short article on The Plesiosaur Directory about The Tyrannosaur's Feathers with a bit of background info.
The article also includes a list of places where it can be preordered.

A shot I took of the book with a plaster cast of a T. rex tooth in my collection, which I've had since I was a kid. The tooth came in a kit with some lacquer and a brush. So, I lacquered it, but it turned out badly, so I immediately regretted it! It looked better as a plain white plaster cast.

Only two months to go until publication. 'The Tyrannosaur's Feathers' now also appears in Amazon UK's "Hot New Releases" list for the Dinosaur Books category: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/new-releases/books/408228

The Tyrannosaur's Feathers will be published exactly one month from now!

My co-author Jonathan cleverly created this short trailer for the book, which he has allowed me to share on the DinoToyBlog Youtube channel!

Pre-orders are welcome! Especially now that the book has an Amazon bestseller's rank, which means preorders there will bump it up the Amazon charts. Those links again...

One week to go until The Tyrannosaur's Feathers is out!

Jonathan Emmett and I took our research for this book very seriously, as you can see here. From left to right, Jonathan, Titus the T. rex, and me.
