Thanks for the comparisons avatar_Over9K @Over9K ! Somehow, even though W-Dragon has lips, it looks more monstrous than PNSO's lipless take.

But does 'monstrous' mean innaccurate? I think the darkened area around the eye contributes heavily here. It makes the eye appear more sunken in the socket, and by proxy makes the surrounding keratin seem more extreme. Couple that with the armored nasal ridge, and this rex is decidedly dragon-esque, but not to an extreme, IMO.

I do think a repaint would do wonders.

Lynx

IMO it's just a nice, stylized model.

100% Why I haven't jumped on buying this model. It needs a repaint. I feel as though this basic brown colorscheme resembles too closely to JP, therefore gives it an even more movie monster feel.

That's also why I think Rebor's Kiss/Tusk worked well. Despite their over muscular and somewhat movie monster likeness, they had a complex colorscheme. Not your basic brown and green colors we see in JP.

I agree. Monstrous can mean a lot of things. Honestly if Tyrannosaurus wasn't a bit "monstrous" we probably wouldn't be drawn to the animal as much as we are.  It's like people the love crocodilians and turtles and call them "prehistoric" these are things we like not a bad thing or unnatural. I'm sure when early Europeans first encountered elephants they called them monstrous.

Looks like an accurate skull on a JP rex body, I kind of like it. And honestly? I think it's a more pleasant look than PNSO's snaggle toothed but "well bodied" theropods.

I'd mentioned earlier that I'd post some images comparing the new accurate W-Dragon T-rex to Rebor's Kiss, when the former arrived at my doorstep. It has, so here they are:

They're both about 41 cm long, but the Rebor is a considerably heftier individual. The W-Dragon comes with a very nice landscaped base, but it stands perfectly on its own without it. The over-all production values are high. The seam where the close-mouthed lipped head is attached to the body is hard to discern unless you are carefully looking for it. It has none of the visibility of Kiss' tail junction with it's body, as you can see. That of the open-mouthed lipped alternate head is slightly more visible, but not objectionable.

Just got the lipped rex today and I'm very pleased with the final product. It's nice when the final figure is equal to, or perhaps a smidge better than the promo images.

I gotta say, this alternate-head solution to open/closed-mouth poses is really the way to do that. Does having two heads cost more than developing and producing the parts for an articulated jaw? I wish Nanmu would do this...

I'm continuing to be pleased with my new figure, especially the interchangeable heads. The magnets have a good holding power and the virtually seamless look may be attributed in part to their presence. I've seen that some don't like the use of magnets, though for the life of me, I can't imagine why not. I also suspect that varying the weight of the magnets plus or minus may allow the design  to stand in a good state of balance, avoiding the 'curse of the theropods".

Mine has landed in the US as of yesterday from Sugo Toys.

I like the switching heads options, though I wish they gave a small display stand to set it on. My guess is an alternate head does cost more but not substantially so.

A figure might stand well enough for awhile, my Rebors haven't went anywhere yet, but all it takes is me bumping into the shelf with something so I generally like mine well supported anyway.

It looks a bit more like Stan with the teeth hanging so far out of the sockets?

DefinitelyNOTDilo

That's quite the tooth slippage you got there.

It definitely could be, but Wankel has a similar look to Stan with the teeth hanging out, and W-Dragon literally just did an 'accurate' Stan.

Either way, I'll be watching for this...

Blade-of-the-Moon

I have a replica of the Nation's Rex skull, holding it up to that silhouette the teeth don't match not in number or placement. They are close especially on the bottom jaw but the slippage on the top is a lot more pronounced here.

That Tyrannosaurus looks quite fearsome in that lighting!
