Safari is having a Blowout Sale, 50% off already discounted toys. I don't know if they're all slated to be retired but all the prehistoric figures on sale are. Discount code is NEWYEAR50.

So if I understand correctly, you get the discounted prices, plus additonal dicount with the code?

Edit: That is exactly the case wow.

Yup! I already placed my order.

Faelrin

Yeah I signed in and messed with it. Gonna get me caught up on quite a bit I've been behind on (Diabloceratops, Psittacosaurus, Shringasaurus,  and Uintatherium) minus a few others I wanted, but will try to get at another time. At least I also already have the Citipati and Deinocheirus as well. Honestly sad to see this many being retired, especially some of their best, but well it was already discussed in the 2023 thread.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Didn't really see to much really on sale. 30% is ok, more is better but there isn't a lot there for me.

You misunderstand. It's 50% off ON TOP of the 30%. That's 80% off. Example, the Deinocheirus normally costs $12.50. It is currently on sale for $8.81. Add 50% off to that price and you're getting the figure for $4.41. I got 13 figures (I collect extant animals too) for $50.

And no, there's not a lot on sale. But every one of those prehistoric figures has been retired this year (Shane said so in the 2023 thread). It's really a clearance sale and Safari will not be getting those figures in stock again. Most people probably have them already but if they don't, this might be their last chance to get them, at an incredibly low price too.

Fembrogon

Amusingly, I DID place an order for a few items, but not a single one was prehistoric - I basically have all of those already, barring the last 2023 figures.  :))
I did get some cute little mammals on sale, though.

It's really, really annoying that such a big company as Safari does not offer overseas shipping. It's downright amateurish.

Fembrogon

Maybe they're not as big as we've always assumed? I'm pretty sure there's been discussion this past year about limited Safari's abilities actually are, despite how prominent they may appear in our hobby.

I already have all the prehistorics though and I didn't see a lot I could carry in my shop is all.

postosuchus

all figures (prehistoric and living)  that have a ±30% discount on the official website are being discontinued this year, right?

postosuchus

are there any loopholes for sending figures to Eurasia?

I only know about the prehistorics but I wouldn't be surprised if the living animals were being retired as well.

postosuchus

tell me, please, what is the approximate average mass of one packaged figure of a prehistoric animal?

postosuchus

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi, what do you think the 13 figures you ordered will weigh?

Faelrin

avatar_postosuchus @postosuchus You could ship them to someone in the US, but you would still need to deal with international shipping afterwards. Weight would vary on the size of the figures. There are numerous other retailers in the EU (assuming you live there) that carry Safari Ltd figures, but that doesn't compare to the discount Safari Ltd itself is offering atm for some of these figures.

Here's some of the retailers in case they might be more ideal for you:

https://modellpferdeversand.de/Home
https://www.spielzeug-guenstig.de/
https://www.diermodel.nl/en_GB/
https://www.urzeitshop.de/gb/

There might be some others out there, but these were some of the first I could remember.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, I don't know anyone in the USA. I found a couple of intermediaries and want to calculate the approximate weight of the box with figures in order to calculate the cost of intermediary delivery: is there any point in placing an order from overseas...

I've never owned a Safari LTD figure, how heavy is the material they use compared to the materials used by other companies? For example, my Velociraptor Papo weighs 64 grams, and Giganotosaurus Eofauna weighs 320 grams. Of course, it all depends on the size and you can give me their weight using any specific Safari LTD numbers you have as an example.

Got an email saying the Psittacosaurus was out of stock before my order could be fulfilled, so I've been refunded the funds for it, and sent me a 15% off code which was nice. I guess I'll have to pick this one up from another retailer who still has it.

Edit: Hope it will be valid a few months from now. In the process of saving up funds, but I think I'd also like to wait for the Stegouros to come into stock.

I've learned my lesson about wading too far into this issue in these forums but I will say that I can almost guarantee that Safari is a much smaller company than anyone here thinks it is.

Fembrogon

That's what I suspected, S @Shane. If anything it's impressive how big the company manages to feel to many of us most of the time, at least from a USA customer perspective. I, personally, continue to receive excellent service every time I order from Safari Ltd (my order already arrived a few days ago!); but I can sympathize with those outside the country who don't have such convenient access.
