Platybelodon time:

QuoteANNOUCEMENT: The next stretch goal for the Eons Prehistoric Elephants project is the much requested Platybelodon danovi! Design drawing by Ross Persichetti. Prototype sculpt photos coming tomorrow!

And yes from the previous painted prototype reveal for the Gomphotherium says it too is a stretch goal (I'll update the op with this info):

QuoteMore prehistoric elephant goodness today with the reveal of the painted prototype for the 1/18th scale Gomphotherium action figure! This will be one of the stretch goals for the upcoming Eons crowdfunding campaign on BackerKit which launches in less than 12 days. Be sure to follow along at the link in the comments!

well, i hope not.  Platybelodon was somewhat smaller than gomphotherium (about 15%) but given David's tendencies to stray from scale, they probably will share the same body.

I hope the Platybelodon has a unique body sculpt too. Would be a shame to have to choose between the two figures.

Flaffy

Platybelodon danovi, does indeed have a differnet body compared to the Gomphotherium. More elongate torso and squatter legs. TBH I prefer the wrist/feet articulation of the Platybelodon despite having one less articulation point. Makes for a smoother presentation.

andrewsaurus rex

oh goody......i want both but want them in scale with one another.    Platy looks a bit big to me for 1/18 but that's just scaling from the picture of the hand holding it, not very reliable.  Should be around 4.5 inches high or so at the shoulder.   Gomph should be a bit under 6 high.  Whatever, assuming the same person is holding both figs, Gomph is for sure bigger, by an inch or so of shoulder height.

Cannot wait. Large 1/18 scale prehistoric mammals are rare as rare can be.

Faelrin

I love this goofy boi so much. Can't wait to add this one to my collection. Thanks for saving me the trouble of adding the pics here avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy (though I'll still need to get them in the op).

Here's the info from the update so folks don't miss it:

QuoteLET'S GO- Platybelodon! Here's your first look at the action figure prototype for the 1/18th scale Platybelodon danovi, superbly sculpted by Max Bellomio, with articulation by Ross Persichetti.
The Eons Prehistoric Elephants BackerKit campaign is only ONE WEEK away! Be sure to sign up for updates (link in my bio) so you don't miss out!

Painted prototype images coming Thursday, and then we have one more stretch goal species to reveal!

And from a comment David left on the insta post:

QuoteJust a heads up for those asking for more giant species- the Woolly Mammoth is the largest species offered in this campaign, otherwise we'd risk not funding, But if this goes well, there could be more species later on. ;)

Hopefully the highly requested Deinotherium can make the cut as a last minute stretch goal if funding goes well (if not others like the Columbian mammoth, American mastodon, etc). That said this has a really good roster with the initial four. Gomphotherium, and Platybelodon are also classic popular proboscidean genera, and I'm really glad the early Moeritherium is coming too based on the project page tease I've seen.

Also here's a nice little image of the baby and adult Woolly mammoth figures that popped up in an email (looks like the colors on the baby have since been adjusted too?):

Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

I certainly wouldn't mind a Deinothere. A prodeinotherium would be a pretty good compromise ;)

Faelrin

I didn't realize Moeritherium was so tiny though. Straight up adorable.

I didn't know about Prodeinotherium either. I'd be glad to have one, if it was offered.

Yes. It looks like the scale guy behind it is coming to pick it up and take it home. There's a nice full scale model of one, or something similar, in the London Natural History Museum.

There also was one shown in Zürich.

I am absolutely in love with that sculpture. Looks like a happy little fellow. Thank you for sharing avatar_postsaurischian @postsaurischian

Also another Cenozoic update, but for the paint sample of the melanistic Smilodon:

QuoteToday we have a look at the very photogenetic paint sample for the Beasts of the Cenozoic Smilodon action figure! Also seen here is the medium therapod display stand (not included). I didn't expect that work with this figure, but it's not bad!
This assortment is still on track to ship in late October. See the comments for the preorder info!

I am absolutely digging the poses this one can pull off (never mind all the customization options with fur, heads, ears, and paws):

What an ugly critter, I'll take 2.

Thanks for adding the pics here avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy. Haven't had the time to do it today. Much appreciated.

Love how this one turned out. Definitely friend shaped. Will be fun to check out how much bigger it is then the tiny Kaiyodo and Eikoh I got a few years back.

Here's the concept art for the last stretch goal. The cute little Moeritherium.

QuoteLESS THAN 24 HOURS until the launch of the Eons Prehistoric Elephants crowdfunding campaign! And today we reveal the final stretch goal species- Moeritherium lyonsi! Design drawing by Ross Persichetti. Prototype sculpt photos coming tomorrow at launch!

You have no idea how long it took me to add this single pic to my imgur and post it here. The net here is absolutely terrible, ugh. Now to add it to the op.

Edit: As of now, it is less then 14 hours away before it launches.

I hope the Kickstarter is a big success!! Can we fund all of the stretch goals before they would appear on BackerKit?
Mosasurus on Jurassic Mainframe and JPToys
Angurius on TohoKingdom

I love all the Jurassic movies, plus Disney's Dinosaur

Brontozaurus

I'm wondering if any of these will get releases over in Cyberzoic? It would be very amusing to have Platybelodon decked out in armor and laser guns.

Speaking of, that's the one that interests me the most. They all look very cool, but Platybelodon has been so iconically weird since I was a kid that I'm absolutely down for an articulated figure of it.

My collection! UPDATED 21.03.2020: Dungeons & Dinosaurs!

I think the woolly mammoth will at the very least. It was in some dragon clan artwork a while back.

Campaign is live in less then 2 hours. There's a link in the op.
