In case you missed it, one (1) cervical vertebra that had previously been referred to Quetzalcoatlus has been redescribed as a new genus and species, Infernodrakon hastacollis ("spear-necked dragon of the inferno").

Kind of funny with we have this one in the US's Hell Creek, and Cryodrakon in Canada's Dinosaur Park formation, far north of it. They knew what they were doing lol.

That said it is pretty interesting find out the material from that area was basically lumped into the one genus, so I'm curious to see if any other genera will pop up from now.

STOP GIVING THE COOLEST NAMES TO FRAGMENTARY TAXA 😭😭😭

Blade-of-the-Moon

Gotta say the name is an attention getter.

I'm usually annoyed with the silly names being given to animals lately, but I've gotta admit, Infernodrakon from Hell Creek is pretty cool.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I'm fine with the name here, since it's a clever reference to the formations name.

i think the name is a bit over the top, personally.  But what's in a name?  Just ask Manospondylus gigas.  :)

Dragons are currently rather in fashion.
There was also this new ornithomimid, Mexidracon (with a c instead of k), in January IIRC.
Infernodrakon has a nice ring to it however, should it have one day its own figure !

Still less silly than the average tyrannosaurid's name.

Just a satirical example of a tyrannosaurid name. Approximately "big tyrannical tyrant beast with the deadliest teeth"
