Maybe this has been answered before but sorry I am in a rush and I need answers. How can I view or restore my old postimage links. i thought postimages was stable and versatile. But when i open the links I cannot view the immages.
For example I sent links to myself on the PM feature(to send images from my phone to computer), not embedding images, just raw direct link. But now when i click on the PI site, the pictyre would not load.

for some of them im getting a 504 gate timeout

Sounds like the site had a problem with a server, so it could just be temporary.

It is temporary. Not the first time. Happens every now and then.

I wonder if the first post of the thread should contain a warning about Facebook. You can host photos there, but they shuffle the URLs constantly, so you're going to get a couple of weeks of use out of it. Maybe that's enough in some instances, but not if you want a post to be useful in the longer term.

Have you noticed anyone still using Facebook to host images on the forum recently? If so, then yeah, we should probably mention it.

Well, to be fair I'm not sure where they were hosted, but I have seen some recently posted photos with dead URLs.

Any other free image posts out there that people have good experiences with? I was going to post an image from my recent trip to Dinoland at Disney World and I am getting warnings about PostImage being a malicious phishing site. I switched to them after I lost most of my images with Photobucket. I still haven't restored all my collection images. I am not interested in paying to add my content to web sites so if there isn't another option I guess I'm out when it comes to images.

I use postimages a lot and I only got that odd phishing warning once. Haven't seen it in a few to several days. I am still using them.

EDIT: Reddit has a brief discussion about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/phishing/comments/1h8b4cs/why_suddenly_is_postimages_flagged_as_suspected/?rdt=58344

B @bmathison1972 Thank you for that I will try later and see if I get the warning. If anyone else has another option please let me know just in case.

When photobucket disaster came, I switched to this page https://imgbb.com/ and I have been using it very nicely for many years. The preview of the pictures is very LARGE and you can copy the link for each photo in several ways (direct, embed ...). You can upload the photos by simply dragging them to the web and voila.

DefinitelyNOTDilo

Can second that I use imgbb and it has worked perfectly, completely free too!

avatar_Duna @Duna & avatar_DefinitelyNOTDilo @DefinitelyNOTDilo thank you if I still get the warnings I'll check it out.

Another option, you can upload images as attachments directly to the post, but there is a size limit, so you'd have to resize the images first.

Yes, directly from your computer/device. The current size limit is 1MB per attachment, which is plenty big enough for any image posted to the web. To be honest, for viewing on the web, an image 1/10th that size (100KB) would still be perfectly fine. Most cameras save images much larger than that, but it's overkill for most of our purposes.

There is also a quantity limit, set to 4 images per post.

I can change the limits.

Attaching images is easy enough, but there's a final step to include the attachment in the post, which many people miss. Instructions here: https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=11637.0

It looks like Flickr wants to start limiting the size of downloads to 1024px for accounts that don't pay for their premium service. It seems like both parties, the one who posted the image, and anyone who wants to download the image, must be paid members to download original size photos. I don't think it'll impact me a whole lot in terms of posting, since I resize to 1000px on the forum, anyway, but I figured I'd bring it up for others who use Flickr for image hosting.

My personal issue with it is that Flickr is a gold mine for high quality museum, zoo, etc. pictures that I like to save and use for reference. Hopefully, they'll still display larger and I'll still be able to use the Page Info menu on Firefox to download whatever I want. I'm just hoping this isn't Flickr's first step toward going the way of Photobucket.

The Internet is a milking cow from which everything is ultimately squeezed out. The romantic thoughts at the beginning of this idea have long since degenerated into ridicule.
