Hey mods please fix the title if need be. Never did one of these particular polls before.

Let this be a shortlist for Paleozoic toys. I'm excluding Dimetrodon because it gets far too much rep compared with anything else from the Paleozoic. I have a (slightly outdated) thread here with a lot of stuff compiled together, but that isn't going to be the shortlist obviously. Use it as a reference. Let me know what you want to vote for and I'll add it to the list here.

I wonder if sets should be included as is, or broken up? Like I'd surely vote for the Favorite Mini Model Burgess Shale set as a whole for example (which includes Anomalocaris, Opabinia, Wiwaxia, etc). Both ROM and Safari also have Cambrian period sets. Then there's the Play Visions prehistoric amphibians set which is mostly Paleozoic genera, minus Gerrothorax and Triadobatrachus which are both from the Triassic.

Okay here's a list. I've bolded those suggested.

It makes sense to me that each option in the poll is for one figure only.

crazy8wizard

#2
I have oodles of suggestions for this one but since I don't want to turn the poll into a laundry list of semi-random looking options I'll narrow it down to just five.

Megalograptus- How is the only figure of this an inch long game piece? I love Oumcraft's LIFE pieces but it's MEGAlograptus, so something bigger would be excellent. Not to mention how the molding of a fairly small piece means the filamentous bits on the large appendages get lost in translation.

Aegirocassis- Same reason as Megalograptus, really. Fairly large (for the family) and only represented by a little game piece.

Clelandina- A kind of out-of-left-field pick but I have a personal appreciation for this after making a video about it.

Greererpeton OR Crassigyrinus- Both of these are fairly similar in being long early tetrapods with tadpole tails. Crassigyrinus does have a figure, but it's crazy hard to find and also in need of an update. Greererpeton on the other hand, has no figure. I'd be fine with either one since I like them both.

Arthropleura- Now would be the perfect time for a major company to release an Arthropleura figure as essentially the whole body has now been revealed. I have seen a few decent but now dated 3D prints of this genus, as well as that one kinda hard to find Groovy Tubes figure (I tried and got burned with that one) but both are now, sadly, dated.

NMMNH-P 67717 "Don Juan"- is it futile to suggest an undescribed animal? Absolutely. Do I still want to see a figure made of this fish when it is described? Absolutely. Will I be upset if this is left out of the poll? Nah. I just thought it would be cool to mention since the illustration is seared into my memory because of the Ray Troll illustration.

BlueKrono

Holy cats, that Ray Troll fish is out of this world! That's got my vote.

avatar_crazy8wizard @crazy8wizard I sculpted a Greererpeton a while back, but never got to finish it. So one exists partially...

Is this correct?

Life game Aegirocassis
Life game Megalograptus
Life game Clelandina
Play Visions Crassigyrinus
Innovative Kids Groovy Tube Book Arthropleura

I'm a little torn on adding the Life game miniatures as on one hand there's an exceptional amount of variety that doesn't get made. On the other hand they aren't toys per se, and are delicate tiny resin pieces and I'm not sure how widespread their availability was. Same with Paleozoo's models for what it is worth, though different materials at times.

oh I completely misinterpreted this post. I thought this was another "what would you like to see" post. I apologize, lol.

On second thought, excluding the Permian wouldn't give us much left to work with.

Faelrin

Okay I put a massive list in the op. I've bolded those that have been suggested.

I'm still thinking about my top ten but at least my bases are covered lol.

Edit: I don't think I will include everything in the above list in the poll, so be sure to make suggestions now.

This is just off the top of my head, there's doubtless many more

Faelrin

avatar_SBell @SBell Paleozoic (and Ediacaran perhaps, assuming anyone has any interest in the few that have been made). I've added your suggestions, and bolded the ones in the list. I've also added the rest of the Paleozoic Starlux figures that were listed on toyanimalwiki and DTC.

Did you mean the Starlux Ichthyostega?

I did. Always mix them up.

Faelrin

avatar_SBell @SBell Okay I added those, and bolded the Ichthyostega.

I also added the Medicom Tullimonstrum, because despite its rarity, still remains the best figure of this genus out there to date.

I found this mercari listing with lots of images pertaining to it, which gave me a lot of info on it I didn't have before. Particularly the back of the card that came with the figure, which putting into google's image search, and then translate feature does show they do treat it as Tullimonstrum, despite also treating it as Nessie for some reason. Part of me is tempted to vote for it, despite the plethora of competition.

It was the chase figure in a mystery series, so particularly hard to find. Those sets (and also ones by UMA, UHA, and Heart) often have several mystery/cryptic creatures represented by fossil/extinct animals

Halichoeres

Of the ones that haven't yet been nominated, I'd like to see:

Kaiyodo Dinotales Bothriolepis
Kaiyodo Pleurocystites
Colorata Cameroceras
