It seems the ones Safari retires are ones that don't sell as well to the general public. I love the Shringasaurus and Inostrancevia dearly but they don't sell as well as T. rex unfortunately.

That's right, that's what S @Shane who works for Safari has said in the past.

Quote from: Sim on July 05, 2025, 07:29:29 PMSafari has retired a lot of good ones even if they are fewer than CollectA'

They are fewer?

Possibly it's also because of the fact many of those CollectA figures were replaced by better versions from other companies or even CollectA itself.

Suggest Changes or Add Missing Products!
I've just submitted a suggestion for the Kinato's 3D Crystal Puzzle Triceratops in its green version, that I own (pictures were taken from my iPhone, so there shouldn't be any copyright issues ?).
This line also includes a brown version of Triceratops as well as a T-rex model that comes into 3 versions : clear, brown and green.
Thought that it was worth adding it/them in your database ^^ :

I'm liking how the site is developing.

One quirk I just recently noticed is that when I'm viewing my collection or wishlist, the "company" drop-down menu still lists the entire site archive, rather than just the items in my personal list. This isn't an issue with any of the other drop-downs, which only show what is currently in my list(s). A small inconvenience, but I figured it was worth noting.

I made some changes on how the data is stored in the backend. This comes with more categories and it may have happened that I've accidentially fixed this inconvinience. I Hope this is what you meant.

Also I saw your suggestions and simplified the process for you all if you want to submit something. I am eager to see all the errors and little bugs the new code bringt with it.

There may be some issues with "Group", "Class/Order" "Family" naming at this stage but I will fix them one by one for more consistency. Dinosauria is now one big Group but you can refine your search with the other filters. If that is a probleme, please let me know.

I added the PNSO Dinocephalosaurus and the "Hongkongosaurus". I'm also doing some updates on the 2025 Mattel Jurassic World that is much needed (images and codes, remaining 2025 figures will probably be added on another day). I haven't had much energy and interest for this stuff much of this year though, and I wish I did. I used to enjoy doing updates for this site quite frequently. Between my living situation, and other external factors my chronic depression has been pretty rough this past year. I know I have no obligation to do any of this, but I feel bad leaving you guys all hanging with missing things or unfinished things.

Edit: Okay nearly all the Rebirth toys have images and codes now. Either later tonight, or tomorrow I'm gonna try to get the missing figures added (Distortus rex, SDCC T. rex set, etc).

No need to feel bad avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, just do what you want to do.  If later you want to do more, it's fine.  And if you don't want to, that's fine too.  Look after yourself.

Sim

Oh and thanks for adding the two PNSO figures avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin!

avatar_Sim @Sim A bit late, but thanks for the support as always.

Last thing for tonight, but figured I'd get the new Haolonggood Iguanodon pair added. Will add names, measurements, and images once those get out there (amazon store or wherever as usual).

I have to inform you of an error.

On the site the old green CollectA Tyrannosaurus (https://dinotoycollector.com/index.php?controller=product&action=view&id=262) is erroneously labelled as being released in 2012: I know it's wrong because not only I had acquired it in 2008 but under the one I possess you can clearly read how it's been made in 2006.

Thanks for mentioning that!  With regards to the date underneath it, I think it just hasn't been changed since the previous brown version of that figure which has the same sculpture.  It's listed as being released in 2012 on Toy Animal Wiki too.  I'm hesitant to change this, your figure which you acquired in 2008 isn't the brown version?

I tried to add the Schleich megalodon to the dinotoycollector site, but I was told there was an error and it didn't get added.  I'm not sure what to do..

My figure isn't the brown version and it was the first entry in a paper shop collection that began in 2008.

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to leave it as it is, partly because we don't know the original release date, and if avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector can review the situation it would be helpful I think as I believe he tagged it as being from 2012.

I mean, the 2012 dtate is clearly wrong and if you want I can show you the photo of the first dossier of that collection with 2008 clearly written on it in the first page, proving Tyrannosaurus came out way earlier than 2012.

Like at the very least we should change it to 2008 since it's the earliest date during which we know the figure was available, though it's more likely to be 2006 I think.

Yes, if you could show me that it would be helpful.  I don't think it came out in 2006 as that was the date the original, brown version came out.  I vaguely remember that green Tyrannosaurus being revealed some time after the brown one was available.  I guess it's possible it was released earlier in Italy than in other parts of the world?

I doubt it's possible that it was released in Italy 4 years earlier than the rest of the world.

Also the Dino Toy Blog seems to agree with me and labels the green Tyrannosaurus as the original 2006 one; also the figure that the Dino Toy Collector site labels as the 2006 one doesn't have the same sculpture as the green Tyrannosaurus, with more pointy foot claws, more spaced toes, larger teeth and a lifted tail.

Apparently a brown version of the figure did exist but I can't find much info about it, though it's present in the dossier of the first entry alongside the green one but wasn't included as a figure.

Anyway I could show you right now but I don't know how to share photos on the blog and I can't do so from google photos.

I hadn't noticed the brown CollectA Tyrannosaurus had a different sculpture!  It must be a case of retooling the original sculpture as the two figures look like slightly different versions of each other.  It was once shown CollectA did that to their original Baryonyx figure.  That and, I think this one does have the same sculpture as the green one: https://toyanimalwiki.mywikis.wiki/wiki/CollectA_88036_Tyrannosaurus_Rex

I vaguely remember it being announced that the original CollectA Tyrannosaurus was getting the green repaint.

To post a photo I use Postimages.  Once you've uploaded a photo there just copy the direct link it provides and when creating a post on this forum click on the icon that looks like a window to insert the image into your post.

Yeah, this one does have the same sculpture and as I've said it's featured in the dossier but was never included as a figure.

Anyway as for these dossiers here you are:

This is the cover of the first entry, showing the number one on the top right corner with the green Tyrannosaurus at the center.

At the center left you can read the date 5th March, 2008, the release of the first entry; interestingly the brown Tyrannosaurus was also shown though never included as a figure in the collection.

There is also another piece of evidence as the release of the models as reported by the Dino Toy Collector lines up neatly with the release of the entries: entries from 1 to 30 include figures that were released before or during 2008, those from 31 to 52 include those that were released in 2009 and the very last 5 entries have 2010 figures included with them; the only exception to this is the green Tyrannosaurus, which makes me suspect the date given on the site is wrong.
