Quote from: Sim on July 25, 2025, 09:23:20 PMYes, that Leaellynasaura is very impressive, but is it not larger than 1:35?  Wikipedia says Leaellynasaura reached 90 cm long?  If the figure is much longer than that it's also larger than a 1:35 Sinosauropteryx and Caihong.

There's conflicting estimates, bare in mind most specimens are of juveniles and a lot of estimates were made before the discovery of the long tail.

It does not have to be 100% size accurate, just small enough so it gives that feeling of fitting just right among other figures of scale. As a collector, you are the only one who is gonna be nitpicky to the core while anyone who sees your collection will barely notice it, unless it pokes right in the eyes lol. Take for example TNG`s Megacerops, its quite small, you can always replace it with Safari`s Megacerops which is the size of CollectA`s Andrewsarchus. Sizes are all over the place sometimes, you gotta compromise until a company makes an ideal figure or you take up on the task yourself.

We need more figures like this and not a Trex sized Velociraptors lol.

Sim

My point, which seems to have been missed, it that that Leaellynasaura is larger than a 1:35 Sinosauropteryx which I still beleive would be too small for 1:35 and it is much larger than the 40cm Caihong would be in 1:35.  Also, as people have mentioned, the smallest species would just be severely poorly represented if they would be made as a 1:35 figure.

Quiversaurus

Since we're on a bit of a scale discussion here, I watched Andy's (Dinosaur Reviews) video on the Lana Time Shop Utahraptor and this thing is such a gem. It's not even that small!

Hoping companies like PNSO, HLG, Eofauna will consider making dromaeosaurs in this scale...

Thanks for the alert, avatar_Berno @Berno . I just ordered one.

Sure 'nuff, avatar_Berno @Berno and avatar_oscars_dinos @oscars_dinos , when I receive it from Lana, I'll add it to the New Aquisitions thread. Should be 2-3 weeks before it hits my doorstep. It's going to be a candidate for painting, clearly. Gives me a bit of time to consider the colors to use. Any suggestions are welcome ... .

Halichoeres

For me, some of the most interesting animals aren't even dinosaurs, they're arthropods, fish, early synapsids. A few of those work in 1:35 but most do not. A 1:35 Goticaris would fit inside a human epithelial cell.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Trying to paint my 1:35th Goticaris figure under my scanning electron microscope and hoping the FCI matches my paint.

Amphibians too! I would totally debase and humiliate myself in order to get a 1/35 Prionosuchus - the largest known amphibian to ever live. Saltie size. It would also be great to get a 1/35 Leedsichthys or that really cool looking barracuda esque one that's almost impossible to spell.

Oh, Xiphactinus is very much not barracuda like, it's much more like a Tarpon in appearance (although still not closely related to anything around today).

The CollectA Xiphactinus is about 1:35.

One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.
