Are there any nice prehistoric model fish out there?

I'm talking accurate models and no sharks because I find them overrated...
What do y'all think?
Any ideas?

Kaiyodo made a decent number of them for the Dinotales line from things like Bothriolepis, Hemicyclaspsis, and more. Some Japanese companies recently released models of Sacabambaspis and other jawless fish in the past couple of years after it became a meme there. Plenty of Dunkleosteus figures to go around as well.

A good source for Kaiyodo figures is avatar_brettnj @brettnj. I'm sure he has at least some of them.

The Templar of the Past

What about the silver Xiphactinus from CollectA?

It would pair pretty well with the golden Dunkleosteus from Safari.

Hey AA.

If interested, I can get you any of the Kaiyodo, Favorite, etc. prehistoric fish from Japan.

Please PM if interested.

Thanks (And thank for mentioning me, PS...).

I swear there was a thread on this at one time.

Probably need to define fish but not sharks a bit.

Are you excluding holocephalans? Because a lot of Palaeozoic fish figures are those (Cladoselache, Helicoprion, Stethacanthus, etc)

And are you including lobefins and stem tetrapods?

There are a couple, a nice one being the Eusthenopteron from Kaiyodo.

For regular fish there's a tube - size Leedsichthys from CollectA.

And the Life game had many small fish of different clades if they're still around but they're very small.

Generally fish get treated as afterthoughts with larger figures, you might find some as accessories too. And 3D printing definitely opens up some more if you have access

If we include lobe-finned fish, Takara Tomy ARTS has a really spectacular articulated coelacanth figure, although it is based on the modern genus Latimeria

There are quite a few good fish out there if you're willing to splurge. But the major figure companies make them only rarely. My collection is very fish-heavy compared to most, so I might be able to help if you're looking for specific critters.

As mentioned Kaiyodo has a lot of really good fish models. Pretty much every fish I have that isn't a Chondrichthyan or Dunkleosteus is from kaiyodo. You kinda have to hunt for a few of them though. It took me awhile to get their Hemicyclaspis and Eusthenopteron for a price that was reasonable.
Collecta also has a really nice Xiphactinus.

Yes! That's the one! I searched everything except 'fishy'.
