Amazing, isn't it, after 27 years too!

Word, bros! Somehow the Invicta dinosaurus are here to stay forever. They just have "it". Something magicial, something that you could discribe as "sense of wonder". Congrats S @SidB ! O:-)
One aspect of that longevity is that their inherent beauty (plainly evident in the sauropod figures and the Baryonyx) seems to transcend the outdated aspects of their design. Somewhat of the same phenomenon may be at play in the later output of Forest Rogers' Carnegie/Safari dinosaurs too.

I'm going to comment on the response again, focusing on avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian 's use of the word "delight". IMO, this experience has been a major driver of sucessfull, long-term participation in the DTB/DTF community. I find it far more significant than several other motivations. For example, the search for accuracy is a useful and necessary quest and has resulted in a history of real progress in the development of better figures over the years. Yet, at the same time, it can degenerate into mere pedantry, a dry, soulless exercise that sucks the delight out of collecting and can result ultimately in a loss of interest in the hobby. I'm convinced that more than a few people have left the community and hobby because of this perception. Retaining a sense of "delight" is essential , especially in the face of change and progressive development. It is a vital, life-sustaining quality that must never be lost. Again, that's just my opinion. Thanks, avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian , for your comment.

I have been collecting for more than 50 years and I will probably never stop (and much less because of some grinchs that weren't even born when I started). But I abalienated from the forum because reading every day that people here do not care for or have zero interest in the stuff I love and collect is not what I have been coming here for throughout the last 15 years. And for the news I can go to Paleofiguras myself. It's sad but the newer DTF mentality does not overlap with mine anymore.

I'll attach another descriptive to the dark side of the virtue of constructive criticism - as a more than occasional accompaniment to it is a "delight" in deconstruction for its own sake, rather than a stepping stone to truth and genuine knowledge. The tricky thing is that "grinches" seldom if ever are aware of their grinchness. But one can feel their presence as it is a withering presence, since it is a manifestation of intellectual and psycho-spiritual death in life.

I got the CollectA Jaekelopterus... and also like 10 feet of bubble wrap since the Aliexpress seller didn't use a box.
The paint defect on the 'nose' gives the impression that the little fishy fought back!

Wow that Jaekelopterus is really cool! Do you know what scale it's in? I assume that's a sea scorpion. Devonian age?

It's about 1/20 scale, and yes it's a Devonian sea scorpion.

CollectA Jaeko is definitely one of the best figures of the year
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

PrimevalRaptor

Reminds me that I still have to pick up the Jaekelopterus, I don't order that often online but I always wanted a sea scorpion ever since I first watched Chased by Sea Monsters back when it aired here...whew

Also that Mamenchisaurus is a beauty, I "only" have the Invicta Megalosaurus but it is really amazing how nice the sculpts are, even if not all of them still hold up. Like I do like to have accurate models yes but there are so many that haven't aged well but still are a joy to look at (shoutouts to the Carnegie Giganotosaurus).
Also reminds me how my old art room in school had the Liopleurodon...I was always so envious cause back then there wasn't really any other figures of it on the market lol

SBell

Interesting week.

Got the Mattel Purrusaurus

and PNSO Dinocephalosaurus!

More prehistoric than I've gotten in a while!

I can understand how you feel. When I was the newbie here and later the "middle-aged Gouda", I had the feeling that genuine interest in others, wonder and delight were at the forefront. The atmosphere here was different 10, 15 years ago and will be different again in 10, 15 years. That´s the nature of the way things change.
We have figures today that we didn't even dare to dream of back then. A quirky niche has become a global market. Now we have the agony of choice, which occasionally leads to arrogance, displeasure and grumpiness.
Through all of this, I want to continue to ensure that the element of simple, innocent joy in hunting and collecting, as well as the joy in someone else's success in hunting and collecting, is not buried under grumpiness and nitpicking.
And everyone is asked to participate.

But now enough of the self-referential lamenting and back to the topic:

I've been on a bit of a run recently with a number of Invicta acquisitions, as I've come across a source with very low shipping costs and with figures in virtually mint condition. (What's not to like, right!) So here's the latest, the venerable Invicta Glyptodon, factory painted version:

Look at that date!

Correct! The seams on that half baked whale were rather jarring so I put it high up where they wouldn't be seen. It still has many millions of years of evolution left to go so hopefully the seams will be bred out over time.
