I'm going to do research on methyl methacrylate. I know the popular methods for stripping painted metal or plastic gaming figures are a long soak in either Dettol or isopropyl alcohol. Both quite smelly but I find the former a lot, lot worse than the latter. Maybe these only work on modern acrylic paint and Invicta's are painted with something different, but there's no harm in trying (I think!)

I tried acetone but it made the figures matte. After washing with Methacrylate they returned to their original shine

E: For 5 years I searched everywhere for these unique colors on all portals. And all I had to do was wash the paint off!

Can anyone help? It's like gold, but the paint is loose.

Someone painted a standard yellow Invicta Iguanodon by the look of it.

Just what I was thinking. We discussed it here: https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=14.msg401920#msg401920

I would seek a refund! The seller claimed it was gold leaf and not custom painted when I asked

Maybe it is custom gold leafed. K @Karauak, what are you trying to achieve?

I bought it for the collection and I would like to confirm if it is original.

I won't do anything on eBay. When I bought it I thing it's not original. It's a shame because it would be an interesting piece in the collection.

Did it arrive with the gold peeling like that, or did that happen because you were trying to test it?

Sorry it wasn't authentic. :(

Doesn't look like the gold Iguanodon I've seen before, but it does look like real gold leaf with the way it's flaking, if that helps you feel any better.

You might want to try a product called "Simple Green". You can get it in the UK, wherever your local Wal Martians shop (Poundland in UK?). It was originally created to remove coffee stains from chrome and polished brewing equipment. The product won't damage plastic, silicone or rubber, as it's designed to work with industrial filters, o-rings and gaskets without damaging them. Not as potent as Dettol, with a nicer stink (IMO.

It's a tried and tested paint/adhesive/mold-release-goo removal technique used by Warhammerheads, toy-fixers and kit bashers for decades. When I painted tabletop miniatures a million years ago, I would even pre-soak and scrub anything brand-new to be painted, to prep for paint.

Simply (heh.) take the painted item, submerge in the green. Allow to soak for 24/48 hours (depending on the paint and the thickness). Then, without rinsing the item, use a soft toothbrush to scrub the paint off the item. Rinse. Repeat as needed to get all the paint off. It's a little bit spendy, but you can retain Simple Green used to remove paint. Simply (heh, again) pour back into the original container and reuse several times.

Useful tips, avatar_Over9K @Over9K . I'm going to try it tonight on a poorly painted (not factory paint) vintage Invicta Scelidosaurus that's previously resisted the removal of the slopped-on paint.
