Not sure if this will effect anyone here but PostNord ( Denmark &  Sweden ) has stopped all mail shipments from August 23, 2025, under $800.00 to the USA and Puerto Rico.

There may be other postal services that follow suit but that's all i know of for now.

As of August 25 Canada Post will no longer be accepting packages for the US.  This is because of the US Government's requirement that all tariffs be submitted in advance of the package reaching the US and Canada Post has no mechanism in place to collect and submit those tariffs.

As of August 23 Ebay and Etsy will both stop selling postal shipping labels to all sellers around the world, for packages bound for the US, for the same above reason.

To my knowledge courier companies will still be shipping to the US because most of them do have mechanisms in place to pre collect and submit tariffs.  The problem is most sellers do not have the ability to charge US buyers the tariffs in advance (ie at the time of the sale) and i doubt many will be willing to pay the tariffs on the US buyer's behalf out of their own pockets.  In time systems probably will evolve to allow sellers outside the US to charge tariffs in advance and remit them to US Customs but it will no doubt take a while for this to happen.

That's going to be fun as I have several auctions on ebay from UK sellers I'm bidding on.

i have had it confirmed that at the very least UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Purolator are able to handle importing to the US even with these changes.  However courier shipping costs may be more than postal shipping costs and courier companies usually have significant brokerage fees (a service fee for bringing an item through a country's Customs department).

Do you have the link for the Canada Post announcement? I keep seeing individual companies, but no specific statement from CP itself

i'm not sure if CP has made an official announcement yet.  They are usually last minute about US tariff stuff.  My info comes via Ebay Canada's announcement:

"As of this date, Canada Post has advised that its current Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) shipping services to the US (Tracked PacketTM USA, Expedited ParcelTM USA, or XpresspostTM USA) are not compliant with these changes. And that Canada Post is no longer a shipping option through their labels services."  Ebay Canada does not offer CP's untracked parcel services but they will certainly be suspended too for the exact same reason.

Since Canada Post doesn't have any DPP services, that means they won't be offering shipping packages to the US either.  CP is affiliated with Purolator, so it's possible i guess that maybe they can piggy back onto Purolator's DPP system eventually and resume package service to the US.  Otherwise CP would have to develop its own which will be both expensive and time consuming.

I've asked fellow forum members if anyone has a link to an official CP announcement yet.

BTW Germany can be added to the list of postal services that will be suspending package shipment to the US soon.  I'm not going to bother listing all the other postal systems that also no doubt will suspend service.  Suffice to say it probably will be most countries.

Makes me glad I got those figures from Minizoo when I did (only for more to be found at the warehouse for Creative Beast Studio after lol, but not like I knew that then). But man this is gonna kill international trade for us US collectors. This really sucks. Never mind everything getting ever more expensive from this tariff mess (and other reasons).

LONG POST

ok so a bit of good news.  Still no online announcement from CP but they have emailed business sellers who are registered with CP about the situation.  Here it is below (it's long).

"At Canada Post, we've been working to understand the order, assess options, and secure solutions that will ensure we can maintain continuity for your business. We are moving swiftly to make the necessary updates to ensure your shipments remain compliant and continue moving smoothly across the border.

What's changing

Goods valued at US$800 or less that are shipped to the United States through the postal network will be subject to an ad valorem duty. This duty will be equal to the effective tariff rate applicable to the product's country of origin under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). For Canada, the current IEEPA rate is 35% for most goods.

What this means for your business

Starting August 29, 2025, every package shipped from Canada to the U.S. must show proof that duties have been prepaid before the shipment can be accepted for delivery.

What this means:

After this date, Canada Post will only accept U.S.-bound label requests that include a valid Declaration ID - a 13-character code that confirms duties are secured before the shipment is accepted.

The new U.S. customs regulations will impact your costs, delivery process and customer experience.

Keeping your shipments moving

To meet the new U.S. requirements, we're partnering with Zonos® to collect duties before they enter our network and remit them directly to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

What this means:

You will be able to access this solution through Canada Post's software systems - Snap Ship and Shipping Manager; through our web services and APIs; and at post offices across the country.

A Zonos Verified Account will be required - information on how to create an account through Canada Post will be coming soon."

So, surprisingly, it appears Canada Post has come up with a solution (of sorts) for shipping packages to the US.  This should allow large Canadian sellers to keep shipping packages to the US via the postal system IF they have the ability to collect tariffs from US buyers in advance, at the time of sale.  Otherwise they would have to pay the tariffs themselves, which is unlikely, unless they raise their prices to US buyers by the tariff amount.  Paying the tariffs themselves would mean selling merchandise at a loss, so in most cases it ain't gonna happen.

Smaller Canadian sellers, and Ebay sellers have no ability to pre charge the tariffs so they may still not be able to ship to the US via the postal system, unless and until some easy way of collecting tariffs in advance materializes.

I have no idea how over the counter packages are going to be handled (ie a regular person walking up to the counter that wants to ship a parcel to the US).  The general public will have no clue about collecting tariffs, 13 digit codes, COO and HS codes etc.  Some may be willing to pay the tariffs themselves (ie if sending a gift) and those could probably get shipped with Canada Post.  Otherwise probably not.

I know back around March I had paid 80.00 on one package and 40.00 more on another that came from Canada through UPS.
