I've ordered the Haolongood Saurolophus from Lana ... left their hands on Wednesday, but hasn't left China yet.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

I've been purchasing less of late, for various reasons, but Saurolophus was one that was kind of a must-have for me, so let the tariffs fall where they may.

Apparently Mattel is also now a Country:
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Saw that. Ugh that's dumb.

On the other hand I did see a thing that China and the US have reached a deal. From this article:

Quotethe U.S. agreed to drop the 145% tax (you know who) imposed last month to 30%. China agreed to lower its tariff rate on U.S. goods to 10% from 125%.

Worth noting that this decrease to 30% is only in effect for 90 days, hopefully while a better deal is worked out.

30% is still not ideal, obviously better than the shipment-freezing 145%, but this ultimately still just means all manner of items will be available, but more expensive due to this trade war.

Faelrin

Oops yeah I forgot to mention that.

Hopefully it stays and doesn't go back to being sky high again. Still none would have been ideal, but this should hopefuĺly not collapse the economy (though as you said expect higher prices, which will still hit and hurt folks in time).

Mattel stock is holding, maybe will close a bit up today. Ask yourself why that is. It's not because they might have a 100% tariff levied on their products.

There's not more one needs to know.

I haven't been following the tariff situation because it fluctuates so much I can't keep up. But I did just receive some review samples from China-based Toymany with no tariff issues, and they arrived in the US on May 6th.

Lana Time Shop, as well, is as good as their word; I'm looking at one of Haolongood's Saurolophus models sitting on my desk, but didn't see a tariff bill ... so far, at least.

The tariffs were just paused for 90 days a few days ago...

Same here, just got mine today no issues.

Saarlooswolfhound

I've gotten models from Canada, Spain, and China last week with no tariff fee- but all were delayed in customs for about a week.

Not entirely, the US still charges a blanket 30% on everything from China/HK. The de minimus exemption does not apply to parcels from China/HK either. If you are receiving goods with no tariff charge, then either it was baked into what you paid for the item at the outset, or someone upstream of you is paying the tariff on your behalf.

It appears that Lana Time is itself eating some of the tariffs charged on goods they ship to the US, for example.

QuoteBreaking news from the US Govt - the de minimus threshold on all parcels entering the USA is to be suspended from August 29th - it's another Executive Order: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/07/suspending-duty-free-de-minimis-treatment-for-all-countries/

Not sure how this is going to impact sales to the USA - but this means extra tariffs and costs for US customers (most likely) from August 29th.

We shall monitor the situation closely and we have reached out to our contacts in international logistics so that we can better understand the consequences of this Executive Order from you know who.

if the deminimus goes for all countries then all goods bought outside the US will see tariffs, regardless of value.

From what i have read so far, the tariff rate will be that of the Country of Origin (ie where the item was made), not where it was shipped from.   That may not matter a lot as every country seems to be getting pretty much the same tariff rate now.  What may matter was there was something about a minimum tariff of $80, regardless of the value of the item being imported.   The text was rambling and murky, per usual, but that seems to be the way it is at the moment.

So if there is anything you guys are considering buying from outside the US, it may be a good idea to buy it soon.  Remember, it has to clear US Customs by Aug 29, not just be shipped before then.

Note that it is very possible this will all change again in a few days (or minutes) but that seems to be how it stands now.  It's also possible that US Customs will may not be able to handle assessing all the tariffs and the implementation may be delayed until they are able.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I read it all depends on the Secretary and when they can adapt a viable system, could be up to 6 months?
