After years of browsing the DTB (especially over the past three or four years) I figured it was time to join in on the forum.

As a kid in the 1990s I started with Dino-Riders before transitioning into the first generation of Jurassic Park figures. While my toy collecting dropped off by the late 90s and everything was donated, sold off or given to destructive younger relatives, I never lost interest in dinosaurs overall.

Fast forward to 2018. Shopping in Target with my now-wife, we spotted the Terra by Battat reissues. I got reminisce-y, and she immediately took the Ceratosaurus figure I was holding and put it in our cart. That's where my current collecting story begins.

I soon added the Euoplocephalus and Pachyrhinosaurus figures, but then the line disappeared from my local store. I figured they would be nice decorations for my desk at work but that I wouldn't go much further collecting. Who was I kidding?

I bought the Papo Pentaceratops in March 2020, right after getting sent to WFH for the duration of the pandemic. I have, ahem, spiraled since then, with my wife's full, albeit bemused, support, and it's about time for a dedicated display space.

Mostly I collect Safari, CollectA and Terra by Battat when I can snag them on eBay, with a scattering of "big ticket" Papos, Eofauna and now PNSO figures mixed in on occasion.
"The most popular exhibits in any natural history museum are, without doubt, the dinosaurs. These creatures' popularity grows each year, partly because of the recent resurgence of dinosaur movies, but also because a skeleton of a full-sized Tyrannosaurus rex still has the ability, even 65 million years after its death, to chill us to the bone." - Ray Harryhausen

Welcome to the forum! I wonder if your wife had any idea what she was starting...
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

avatar_DinoToyForum @dinotoyforum - I'm honestly just as surprised as you are! I put it in expecting to have to try 2-3 different names at least.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres - I don't think she expected the sprawl of dinosaurs that now dominates my desk, but she's fully in support - she actually just ordered the PNSO Centrosaurus for me last night! I think it helps too that I'm considerate of her in what I collect as well; I show her everything I want to add to my collection before I buy it and we discuss what I know about the animal, what the figure's place in my collection would be, and make sure it doesn't spike her anxiety issues (I mostly buy closed-mouth theropods for this reason).

She collects (and sometimes even knits with) very high-end, indie-dyed yarn and me encouraging her collecting helps too :)

Hello!  My slide into collecting wasn't so dissimilar from yours. I like the sound of your harmonious sharing of your and your wife's interests.
