I'll wait till images drop before getting at all excited. A feathered T. rex could be great if it was sculpted by the same hands as the ones behind the Kronosaurus and the Mosasaurus. On the other hand, just look at the mess that is the Concavenator or the Protoceratops or the Polacanthus.

I hope mr seo will do yang, edmonto, feathered rex and anhaguera!
The feathered rex I can see it like safari rex but tbh, never liked the fully covered feathered rex from early 2010s. The only ones I liked are saurian black cassowary like rex and stomping land ones. Other one I could see is the dominion prologue rex.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I'll wait for pics to get any hopes up.

SpartanSquat

I hope at the end of the month or december we will see it.

Plesio, therizino and rbwon rex are reissues or repaints.
I just checked and the new plesiosaur's code is the same as the Papo Plesiosaurus's. :-\  Very disappointing that it's not a new figure!  Out of the new figures I have no interest in a Tyrannosaurus and Edmontosaurus, I find anhanguerians the most uninteresting pterosaurs and I already have a satisfactory Yangchuanosaurus.  So I'm very let down by the prehistoric selection, I wish Papo had gone for more unique choices, things that there aren't already, like a good Torvosaurus, a Neovenator that looks great if they wanted to do an allosauroid, or thyreophorans which Papo hasn't touched since their Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus and Polacanthus.

suspsy

Wait, people here really thought that the Plesiosaurus and the Therizinosaurus were going to be brand new toys? I took it for granted from the start that they were repaints.

Yes, I didn't think they would be repaints at first for some reason.  After that I thought the Therizinosaurus would be, but due to the different name and that Papo made better quality marine reptiles recently, I thought the "plesiosaur" wouldn't be a repaint.

Maybe they're filling out this year's release with some reissues so that there won't be as big of a gap waiting for the new stuff. The 2024 figures still haven't been fully released and there's only a month and a half left for the year.

They've been speeding up with releases in the past month. Out of their 40 items for 2024 only 8 have not been released. And 7 of these have an estimated arrival of the end of the month. It's really just the Suchomimus that nobody seems to know when it will release. I wish we didn't have to wait nearly an entire year for the figures announced last November, but I do think that almost everything will be out before 2025.

Sim

I read the Suchomimus will be released this month.

SpartanSquat

Ngl I expected plesiosaurus to be a new one. Mr Seo nailed with mosa and krono, so maybe an elasmo could be possible. Yangchuanosaurus I really hope mr seo is with this. I love his theropods, but...oh man I have fear to be done by concavenator sculptor.

Quiversaurus

I hope the Edmontosaurus is sculpted by Mr Seo / the Suchomimus sculptor... can't wait for the pics.

Quote from: crazy8wizard on November 18, 2024, 01:15:49 AMIt's also worth noting that I don't think figure sculpting companies are as keen on comparing and contrasting the total number of figures each genus has from several other companies. Sure, it's fun to do on this forum but I really doubt Papo is doing that with other companies' figures.

I would expect that to be one of the factors companies take into consideration when deciding what species to make, in order to reduce competition. (Doesn't apply to highly popular species that everyone makes, of course.)
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

As always, Papo has the potential to do a lot of good and a lot of bad by this list.

All told, I'm cautiously excited to see Papo's work on their selection of new models on deck. Perhaps the Edmontosaurus will lack the head crest so folks wanting a "proper" E. annectens can be satisfied

Since Papo just released the crested Corythosaurus this year, I wouldn't be surprised if their Edmontosaurus was crestless.  And it seems like Edmontosaurus keeps getting requested, maybe Papo received lots of requests for a crestless Edmontosaurus annectens?

Even though I wish Papo had picked Neovenator or Torvosaurus instead of Yangchuanosaurus, Yangchuanosaurus is a very interesting animal and I expect Papo's will be at the same level as their Suchomimus, in other words excellent.  I do like Yangchuanosaurus so I might get Papo's even if I have one of PNSO's.

Stegotyranno420

I agree Sim, I already like PNSO Yangs, but personally i did not like their torvo.
But a Torvosaurus , being "savage reptile" is very fitting of papo's (expected) style, and if they did it like they did the suchomimus, I would adore it

SpartanSquat

Question: I remember I read many years ago here, that Mr Seo in an interview mentioned he did a yangchuanosaurus but not for papo. Its that true?

Dilopho

Depending on which sculptor does the Yanchuanosaurus, it might be a must-buy.
I'm hoping that the one who did the Concavenator isn't the one doing the feathered T. rex.
