You know what offends me? People on the internet who are always offended. Are we really going to try to drive away this new member because of the user name he chose? We have people on this forum brought together from all different corners of the globe to share their common interests in dinosaur toys and paleontology. Lets do that, and if you don't want to associate with a particular person than don't. Why is that such a problem? Do we really need a big to-do over nothing? If you don't like the guy's name, don't even open the thread. If you're a Christian and comfortable with yourself and your beliefs why even let this bother you? You know who probably isn't letting themselves be bothered by this? Jesus, Jesus does not care. And to those who liken this to any username slandering a different gender, race or sexual preference keep in mind that those things are not choices you make in life. The religion you practice is a choice and if you choose to practice it that is fine but it does not mean the rest of us need to walk on egg shells to accommodate you.

I know what you're driving at here, but I think that if you read the rest of this thread you'll find that nobody encouraged the new guy to leave. It's a very welcoming group, this forum - and part of what keeps that in operation is a bit of discretion regarding the words we use and the topics we approach. Religion and other personal belief systems are and have always been a no-go. That may strike some as "eggshell-walking", but it's a big part of what makes a peaceful forum. For the record, I don't think offence was intended, and I did not happen to take it. However, some people were offended, and to me, that's grounds to politely suggest a name change.

Gwangi, this is WAYYYY off topic.  Follow the rules.  They are posted elsewhere on this board.  Don't try to instigate a fight.  I requested he be asked to change his name.  He was and he did.  Anything beyond that I would suggest you move to some site that was formed for argumentation and flaming.  You won't find me there however.

Is that what he was doing? Looked to me like he was just joining and contributing to a forum with a common internet meme relating to dinosaurs as his user name. As far as I could tell only two members took offense to it, one obviously more than the other.
