Quote from: Torvosaurus on June 20, 2025, 06:37:41 AMA friend asked me to read a book called "Extinction", by Douglas Preston. So I picked it up a few hours ago and just finished. At first, my mind immediately thought it was going to be a Cenozoic Jurassic Park type of book, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'd give it a 4/5.

I was actually a bit disappointed by that one. I did go in with high expectations given Preston's work on The Relic so I'm sure that didn't help

I thought it was worth mentioning this collector big book.
Its original title is Dinosaurs : Profiles from a Lost World, but I have the French version.
It's prefaced by the super cool French paleontologist Jean-Sébastien Steyer and the descriptions of the dinosaurs are from Riley Black.
It includes many iconic species as well as some less famous ones, all beautifully illustrated by the rather discreet paleo artist Riccardo Frapiccini.
Anyway, I have to confess that I'm proud of the personalized dedication I got on it :P

Wow, those are gorgeous illustrations. Cool that you got that signed!
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Not a palaeo-artist I've come across.  Love the Lambeosaurus.  And a very personal dedication too.
