Not all maniraptorans could fold their hands/wings to the extent of modern birds.

Exactly. As new studies suggest, animals like Velociraptor, Deinonychus and such could not fold their arms like their modern relatives (there was a nice post about it on "Dino goss" if i remember well), and that's why i think dromies had somewhat reduced "wings"...  ;)

This is looking BRILLIANT! If ONLY the original figure looked like this...I'd have bought 10 of them! ;D

Alas, i finally finished the guy (last week to tell the truth , but these days i just managed to connect to DeviantArt and nothing more... I'm Kazuma27 there, if you're interested  ;)) and, even better, i can show him to you all!!!  8)

A-ah, i'm complete, compleeeete!!!

Close-up on the arms/wings... Thanks to Himmapaan for the wise advice  :)

Don't know why, but i like my dromies to have blue heads...

A whole new world of adventures await me, weeeee!!!

So... Is it good?

Awesome work Sharptooth!  I wish I could sculpt feathers like that. ;)  And I really like the subtle colors, perfect for camoflauge!

Sharptooth

Grazie, grazie e ancora grazie, glad you like him  ^-^

Let's hope this will be an inspiration for Safari to make an official feathered dromie  ;)

X Himmapaan:

now that you said it, you MUST customize your WS raptor too!  ;D

X Zopteryx:

if it wasn't for Himmapaan's help, i would have never been able to make those wings; and yeah, i painted him that way because i thought it suited better a desert predator like V. mongoliensis than a more colorful coat  8)

Lovely! Really, really lovely. Now, can you convince Safari to cast this and replace their existing mould? ;D

One thing...are the eyes done? I can't see a pupil, but then my eyesight is deteriorating in my old age (I'm 24 don't you know).

Very cool.  I agree with Horridus maybe put a little white dot in each of the eyes to make them look shiny?  I wish Safari would actually procude a dromie like this.

Ah! What should i say, i'm even older than you (26 to be precise)  :P   ;D

Joking aside, i made the eyes black to resemble birds... Speakin' frankly at first i tried to add a lil' white dot, but wasn't satisfied with the result; i'd need a smaller brush, grrr!

I would personally advise against a white dot, as although that works as a highlight on a 2D painting, on a model, that actually has the effect of flattening it and diminishes realism.

Birds' eyes sometimes look black when they have very dark irises. I do agree that adding a pupil is highly recommended.  :) Then gloss the eyes with a varnish.
