I haven't once attached the more poseable set of lower legs on my boy Marbhtach since I reviewed him back in early 2023. I'm far too worried about him falling over and landing on the floor.

I've had a rough time finding a pose that my Dryptosaurus can stand in, and it's not even one of the big tyrannosaurs. The base only has a small area that is flat enough to accommodate the feet, so the figure is perched pretty precariously on there. Earlier this month, I discovered that the figure had started leaning forward and the toes had bent upward. I'm considering ditching the base entirely at this point.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad I only bought one tyrannosaur. I think the figures and bases could use some more engineering.

As far as I'm aware, the stands are getting re-engineered with the Cyberzoic line

Speaking of which, David said those new stands (in medium and large sizes) will be available seperately (in addition to being included with the new creatures up for pre-order) to order with all the goodies going up for pre-order later this week (BotM Allosaurus, Dilophosaurus, etc).

Quote from: Carnoking on June 04, 2024, 03:04:46 PMThey are certainly not a perfect solution but they definitely help! I have adjusted the more extreme poses since this photo was taken, I.e. the gorgosaurus up top there and the stepping Lythronax and Albertosaurus. I just noticed the figures were leaning a lot even with the support rods and I worried they would eventually tumble so I figured I'd try to keep the poses to two feet on the ground. I haven't noticed any issues with the leaning down Tarbosaurus and Dryptosaurus despite how front heavy the pose makes them.

Will any set of support rods do, or is there one you'd recommend?

avatar_JurassicGeek09 @JurassicGeek09 not sure if the brand matters so much as whether or not they're adjustable Just to accommodate the different poses

Very relevant to the discussion being had in this thread, David shared images of the new stands with the tyrannosaurs that will be going up for pre-order today.

Could someone kindly add the images here? I would but I'm stuck on mobile and it is a pain in the butt to do (I prefer using my laptop but still can't atm until new cord arrives to charge it).

Just saw the Facebook post. Definitely going to pick up a stand or two and see if they work any better than the support rods I've been using. If anything, they should make for better display as I'm sure they'll take up less room than the original bases do.

Eatmycar

I mean... yay. Stands I guess.

It's hard for me to be excited about this, and as someone who has a LOT of the ceratopsians, it really feels like BoTM needs to step up its biped game to be competitive with... the bloody Hammond Collection of all things.

I'm not a Jurassic fan, I'm a dinosaur fan first. That said, as a figure collector, I can't look at the Mattel Giganotosaurus on my desk (which is standing free with no rods) and then justify a figure that costs five times as much and has to have a base, or worse, a new stand, to hold it in a neutral pose.

I can only imagine how the Cyberzoic armor will weigh down figures further.

David needs to give a deal for quantity..that's a whole line of figures I need to replace the bases on...bases that technically should have worked without us needing to purchase new ones?

Flaffy

Never was a fan of the bases. Just seemed unnecessary imo. Hopefully transparent stands will be the way to go.

I can agree with this, although I'll probably just wait to see how well they work with the new figures before springing for more, and even then it would probably be just something where I add one or two to an order until I have enough.

Carnoking

While we're on the subject of discounts with these new preorders, I noticed all the new BotM preorders and these bases have points value on the website, and you can apply points on your account for an additional discount. I had some from a previous order and tried adding them to the Dilophosaurus and to my surprise, got it at a greater discount. Not sure why that is, typically these pre orders are not eligible for such things?

CarnotaurusKing

Irrespective of scale, is the Tarbosaurus proportioned more like an adult or subadult?

Bread

Interesting post by David, regarding the retooling of the neck and legs?

I'm glad I waited to purchase the 1/18th scale rex, especially since I was nearly having it commissioned to improve the neck sleeve.

Dilopho

That's nice but also frustrating to those who already have it.

I have a question about Tyrannosaur feet- is the toe with two segments supposed to be on the inside, next to the short dewclaw toe?

Right, that's what I thought..
but somebody should tell the Lythronax that!  ;)

I don't know if any of the other Tyrannosaurs share that problem, but yeah, on the standing legs it looks like the feet are mirrored apart from the dewclaw.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Received the Beasts of the Mesozoic Utahraptor and Achillobator from Dans Dinosaurs, compared with the Mattel Pyroraptors. Detail and paint go to BotM but poseability goes to Mattel still.
