I dunno why I was thinking about this today, but has anyone insured their collection?

I don't have a separate policy for my collection, but it's included along with my book collection (which is much more valuable) in my renter's insurance.

That is a very good point.  No, I don't have it insured but should investigate.

Nice topic for a thread since some of us do have valueable stuff.  Personally I do not have an insurance for my collection.

I considered insuring the more valuable stuff, my father even pushed me to do so, but in the end I just thought it wasn't worth it. I mean, they are just toys at the end of the day.

Man would not be bad to ensure a collection of toys and animals resin in my case, especially in case of theft or catastrophe. I had never thought about it.

As with all collections one could be hard pressed to justify a value on those figures. The insurance companies probably only refund ammounts that are verified by bills or invoices, though I guess even then the sums would be downgraded as in any used objects. And after all, who stores and archives all those bills and invoices from toy sellers, let alone figures that are bought via fleamarkets or traded. Guess then only possible way would be to have an insurance salesman over to value the stuff you got there - but then, how to find someone qualified to value such an collection?

Halichoeres

Yeah, insurance would not in any way replace a collection. It would soften the blow, but as we all know, an extensive collection is the product of not only expenditure but opportunity. The amount I spent on my PNSO figures would surely not replace them now, let alone my Battats or my Play Visions.
