I think those few 2020/2021 Paleozoic/marine figures were pretty decent. Honestly wish they did more of those. Their Anomalocaris is probably my favorite take on it, and that's saying something because I like pretty much any figure of that animal out there currently. I think their JW figures are mostly decent too, well as far as JW depictions go. I'm honestly tempted in picking up a few of these now. Hopefully some of the older ones are available still like the Bumpy set and Nasutoceratops. Shocked they didn't do some of the other CC species though like the Kentrosaurus, Monolophosaurus, Ouranosaurus, Parasaurolophus lux, or even the Scorpios rex last year. Maybe they'll do those eventually, or at least they would be nice to see done as well.

I agree that their Great Old Sea figures are their most interesting and well-executed prehistoric releases of the last few years, but even those don't hold a candle to this:

Or even the Tremors figures they've just released:

I just feel like when they do prehistorics they kind of phone it in.

I don't check this thread because Takara's prehistoric toys don't interest me much. I'm glad I checked it though because those graboids (Tremors) are definitely of interest.

Halichoeres

Ha ha, glad I could help. I'm not normally a monster collector but I have a special fondness for this movie so these figures are a little bit tempting.

I'm a casual monster collector and a graboid would be a must-have if I could ever find one. I'm surprised there isn't more Tremors merchandise considering they're still making movies. Tremors is a fantastic movie, the sequels...not so much.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres I had no idea they even made those. I probably won't go hunting for them really, but love to see it any case (particularly that graboid), and it does look great. I guess you aren't wrong at all that they should be upping their game for their prehistoric products when they can do that kind of work.

The sequels are ludicrous. But I agree the first movie is great. One of the most fun things I did in grad school was bookend a showing of Tremors at a local theater with a discussion of the biomechanical plausibility of graboids. Upshot: tunneling at that size would be impossible, but the final death scene was absolutely perfect.

That's fantastic. And if you were to classify graboids, how would you classify them?

That's a tough one. It has a unique mosaic of characteristics shared by no other group of animals. But based on the jaw morphology, I'm going to say some kind of heavily modified polychaete similar to a eunicid.

Spoiler
That of course ignores the metamorphosed forms like the 'ass-blaster.'

For repaints I think these are all pretty decent, or at least I like them enough. Any idea on when these will release?

they're nice repaints, but I won't be getting them. Getting more selective with arthropod figures and not collecting repaints such as these. But I think I like the color on the Acutiramus better this time around :)

They're already out!

Agree that the eurypterid looks better in this suit of clothes than the previous one.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Oh well thanks for the heads up on that. Can't go about ordering them atm, but maybe I'll try my hand at getting them later. I'm particular taken with the Anomalocaris the most of these, at least.

I'm not even sure whether these are new or re-releases, but they're showing up on places like Toy Paradise:

They're rereleased. I've encountered them since 2019

It's like they took the Ania sculpts, but removed the articulation. Hmm.

I didn't see a page for it on the official Takara Tomy Arts website yet, so I'll keep an eye out for it there, unless someone else spots it there first.
