Does anyone here still have the packaging for the NECA American Werewolf Kessler Wolf on hand? Wasn't there a credits section on the bottom of the box with the sculptor info? I'd like to give credit to the sculptor of this amazing figure in my Monster Toy Blog review of it.

I don't have the packaging anymore, but a few online reviews say it's Kyle Windrix, who's been sculpting for NECA forever. He was one of their first "superstar" sculptors.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I should have it in storage, I can try and remember to look.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I checked the box but didn't see anything on it.

avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon Thanks for the effort. Hope it wasn't too much trouble.

S @Shane A quick net search pulled that up too. Thank you both in any case.

Edit: I found an ebay listing with an image of the bottom of the packaging which confirms he did it, as well as some other folks that worked on it.

avatar_Dilopho @Dilopho Thanks for the reminder of it. Need to get my hands on one still. That and the Creature Replica Lousiana Rougarou that I'm also way behind on (if not the rest of their fantastic cryptids).

It's not my favorite but it's a very nice one I still recall the episode. It looks a bit more like a werehyena to me?

It's a cool figure, I opened it for display last year, I'm tempted to open the Horrorhound too but I'm on the fence due to it's value.

So the Mythic Legions Dragon (Beyithirr) kickstarter is launching tonight at 7 pm EST and...

Most of the details are here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MythicLegions/comments/1j5d30m/beyithirr_campaign_reveals_and_details/

The short of it is:
- Basic Dragon is $550 (plus tax & shipping which will depend on your location)
- Stretch goals include an "ashen" skeleton and a dragon-themed knight figure
- "Add-ons" for an additional $150 each include a fire breathing head with fire effect and a translucent fire knight, and a set of open wings with an "ashen" zombie

So if you want your dragon fully kitted out...you're approaching $1000 easily with tax and shipping included. That's...a lot.

For me, I very much wish the additional dragon parts were stretch goals, and the additional figures were "add-ons" for extra money. Because wow paying $550 for a dragon and not getting any fire effects unless I pay $150 more is a bit of a tough pill to swallow.

The translucent fire knight is very cool, but doesn't really help to justify the additional cost in my opinion.

I understand WHY the dragon parts aren't stretch goals, it's all new tooling so they have to factor that in to make back their investment, whereas the figures are mostly repaints with a few new parts, so much less expensive on their part.

But still, it's a lot to swallow especially in the current economic...situation going on, to spend nearly $1000 on a dragon, no matter how cool it is.

Hmm.. I expected melted knights, baby dragons, and such.  They seem to be using a lot of existing molds for the add ons which knocks the cost down for them, not surprised there.  Around a 1k is about what I'd pay for a Gigantic XPlus Godzilla so it's ..a lot to be sure. It is HUGE though. If anyone can make a nice articulated dragon though it's FH.  I've been told they have a payment plan option so that would certainly help. I thought at 500 they would easily make the goal and fast. at this price..maybe.

Mythic Legions is fundamentally based on re-using existing molds. There are entire waves built on existing tooling with new paint. Part of the fun is the modular nature but for me it's tough to get excited about the figural aspect when you've got $50-$70 figures that are just a bunch of parts you already have rearranged in different colors.

That said, the fire knight is really cool. But I do really wish that they kept the dragon parts as stretch goals. I wouldn't want to spend over $500 on a dragon and have it feel "incomplete" because I didn't spend the additional $300 for the DLC.

I think all their lines are. So far I only own Anubis and the Christmas Ghosts, and one Headless Horesman from them.  I would rather the fire breathing head was part of the main figure pack, that seems like a no brainer? The larger open wings I can see as a stretch goal. They didn't really need all these other pieces even though they are cool. The knight they made to go with him, his champion is pretty much something I don't care for and would leave in the box the fire knight I would use.  I guess everyone is different in what they prefer. It doesn't need a lot added to it anyway it's going to eat a LOT of shelf space as is.

I'm also pretty sure they will reuse the molds from this to make more dragons.

The "Figura Obscura" figures you mentioned are essentially Mythic Legions in all but name, they use mostly Mythic Legions parts to create mythological or literary characters in the public domain.

"Cosmic Legions", basically the sci-fi version of Mythic Legions, uses its own set of "base" parts but slowly more and more crossover and parts sharing between the two lines has been happening.

I'd say there's definitely going to be more dragons if this one succeeds, like a red fire dragon for example, probably with minor tweaks to the head, wings, tail, seems like a no-brainer.

Faelrin

Makes me glad Mattel offers 1/18 sauropods (and especially Diplodocus last year, one of my faves), as if the prices are like this for a massive dragon, I can imagine a larger 1/18 sauropod from Creative Beast would be about as much.

Even $200 is pushing it for me budget wise these days without several months of saving. I kind of agree with Shane, it is shocking to see the accessories going for so much, in addition to the cost of the dragon itself. Then again this is clearly not something I would have been able to support anyways. I'm too poor for it.

Would have been nice to see a much smaller scale one offered, but that would increase the funding goal in the first place. Maybe later.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I'd like to get some space gear from that line to fit my Ceratosaur warrior but I'd hate to pay all that and it not work. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/262567?o=4

They went with more of a medieval feel for these and I wanted Dinosaucers. lol

This dragon and others like it will probably be the central focus for a collection so it's kinda a must have for those that want the entire range. I just love dragons and I have a few statues this big but nothing I can handle regularly. David's/Cyberzoic will be my first poseable dragon but I think Beyithirr is bigger than it?

I'm sure if David ever does sauropods with his current methods they would easily be this much. An armored one doubly so.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Not sure I'll be getting the dragon after all.  I can't get the payment plan option to work for me, it keeps saying installments are unavailable but somehow others are getting it to work. idk.

I'm REALLY on the fence about it. I'm considering compromising and only ordering the fire breathing add-on, since the wings don't feel as necessary. But even then it's a lot.

If I can't find a payment plan option I may have to just get the dragon itself. I think they will do fire and wing options later for other dragons. This one taking til mid-late 2026 is also a bit of a wait considering it's still March now.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Still no reply from FH's customer service. Getting they gist they are too busy or just don't care?

I bought another Syndicate Howling werewolf and decided to do a custom.

Marsha Quist , Eddie's sister from The Howling.

Faelrin

Great work on that custom. Now that I think about it, would be cool if we got the Ginger Snaps wolf, and whatever other female werewolves are out there.
