Without the Moeritherium unlocked, and either pledged for or add-ons, it's hard to say how it would fare in comparison, but the baby mammoth is currently the campaign's best seller.

I noticed on BackerTracker (where I got those graphs from), that we've actually had a large increase in backers today. Not sure if a new video contributed, or was them finally revealing the stretch goals, but at least it's a small and steady boost. About a 6k increase so far. So with that stated, here's another updated look at the tally's.

From most to least pledged for:
-171 Backers (+6): 1/18th Scale Woolly Mammoth
-168 Backers (+11): 1/18th Scale Woolly Mammoth and Baby Mammoth - Exclusive Snowy Variants
-127 Backers (+26): 1/35th Scale Woolly Mammoth
-62 backers (+5): 1/18th Scale Baby Mammoth

From most to least purchased add-ons:
-148 purchased (+11): 1/18th Scale Baby Mammoth
-47 purchased (+5): 1/35th Scale Woolly Mammoth
-27 purchased (+2): 1/18th Scale Woolly Mammoth
-17 purchased (+0): 1/18th Scale Woolly Mammoth and Baby Mammoth - Exclusive Snowy Variants

Combined totals:
-210 (+16): 1/18th Scale Baby Mammoth
-198 (+8): 1/18th Scale Woolly Mammoth
-185 (+11): 1/18th Scale Woolly Mammoth and Baby Mammoth - Exclusive Snowy Variants
-174 (+31): 1/35th Scale Woolly Mammoth

Edit: After posting this, I see we've surpassed 99k. In the time it took for me to edit and post that, some of the above numbers have since increased.

Edit 2: Okay there's a video that went out today that might explain the recent increase in backers today. Not just the stretch goals being shared, but a nsfw video on mammoths and elephants went out, and the dude has 2mil subscribers. I think it is worth the watch for the educational stuff. Didn't know that there was evidence that male mammoths also underwent musth, though I suspected it.  A good part of it is also about the campaign itself though which is direct exposure. He also left a link to the campaign right in the video description too.

So this is gonna be big and helpful guys. They're adding a way to pay over four months for orders over $150.

https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/complexly-and-creative-beasts-studios/prehistoric-elephants/updates/10598

https://help.backerkit.com/article/805-pay-over-time

So this would allow me to add the 1/18 adult mammoth to my order, and I imagine lots of other folks that couldn't cover the cost of it at one time. Please spread the word about this as well.

That said I did just go and change my pledge to the 1/18 mammoth (and the baby mammoth as an add-on instead now), but I saw nothing about this Pay Over Time option when I went to do that. Not sure if they actually have it enabled yet? I asked about it in any case.

Edit: Enabled now. Having a bit of technical difficulty on my laptop, so a bit late in coming back to mention this.

Certainly softens the blow a bit. I originally was going to forgo the big mammoth, just see if it popped up on eBay a few years down the line, but this could sway me.

$106k now, seems like the momentum from 17th Sept is going strong. Hopefully it maintains for the rest of the month.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin The payment plan is definitely helpful given how pricy this campaign is. As for the popularity of the baby mammoth, I reckon a part of it is due to it being the cheapest option out of the three. A good low-commitment price point for those who'd like to support the campaign but don't have the funds to shell out for a $200 adult.

Honestly, with this economy I'm not surprised. People are tightening their belts and when a meager grocery haul hits the wallet hard, it's going to lead to a cutback in discretionary spending.

I can't justify a 200 dollar mammoth to myself, and I'm sure others feel similarly.

As boring as it would be, a more conservative line of classic dinosaurs might've done better... because it doesn't seem the financial interest in super articulated Cenozoic figures are there.

When I posted an announcement on the blog earlier today, the campaign was at $119,127. It is now at $123,031. Who knows, maybe it just might succeed by the end date.

Sort of smacks of desperation, doesn't it? I mean, it would be one thing if these extra rewards were in some way related to ancient elephants but it feels like they're just throwing random stuff at the wall and hoping something sticks at this point.

I guess if it works, it works. There seems to be another uptick in backing after they announced this. I'm still sure they'll reach their funding goal for the three mammoths (five if you count the exclusives) but the add ons are still a long ways off.

Flaffy

I recall a backer suggesting exactly this in the comments at the start of the campaign. But only introducing it now with a week left is quite puzzling. Hope this helps in the final push towards the stretch goals.

I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like the team behind the campaign is always playing catch-up rather than taking active initiative. Though considering it's Eons' very first campaign I can't fault them too much for it. Just wish that they took more notes from their collaborator's previous very successful campaigns.

Faelrin

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking I think you are right. I do think something proboscidean related would have been more appropriate, but maybe this is to help attract general fans of the Eons channel (or anyone else) without it strictly being the main driving force being the campaign. A little something for everyone, like an appetizer to go with the main course? That said it would have made loads more sense to have had these little extras at the start, but this is their first campaign, and this was probably thought up just now to help get the campaign moving again. That said, having something like this from the start would have really helped allow more folks to pitch that are more budget constrained (and/or not interested in a baby mammoth without an adult).

Though seems the fossil magnet set is starting to kick off. 28 already ordered (mix of pledge and add-ons). Will be curious to see how it fares later in the week along with the rest of the add-ons or pledge options.

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy Very much agreed. Hopefully this whole thing is a lesson for them on how to better manage campaigns like this one going forward.

Edit: Nearly 60k remaining. I think this can still be funded at the very least. A reminder that the last few days are also typically the biggest push (other then day 1) so let's hope that's the same here.

Giganotosaurus

If this fails to reach 185k at least I'll feel embarrassed for showing this off excitedly to so many people I know. 😅

That being said, I'd feel really bad for the EONS team. They clearly were really enthusiastic about this project, regardless of how well they ran the campaign.

Needle seems to be moving pretty steadily upwards, no complete stall out recently anyways. If they keep this pace up for the next 7 days, I think it'll make it, especially if we get the typical last minute surge or some new development to spur fresh interest.

I'd say it's the other way round. Giger's style was influenced by fossils ;) .

3 days remaining and we are yet to even hit 140k yet. Have yet to even break 1k backers. The campaign only needs 240 more people to pledge for (or addon) either of the adult 1/18 mammoths (the base version, or the snowy set with the baby) to hit the target based on what is remaining.

For comparison the Raptor series had 2,661 backers, the Ceratopsian series had 1,640 backers, the Tyrannosaur series had 2,158 backers, and Cyberzoic had 1,638 backers.

Flaffy

Just not that interested in another Woolly Mammoth unfortunately. Especially at $200. :(
If even one of the three other proboscidean species were in the base roster I would've happily pledged.

Carnoking

Still counting on a last minute surge (I'll most likely be part of it) but it is looking more and more bleak. At the very least, I think we can kiss the non-mammoth figures goodbye.

If it does ultimately fail to reach its initial goal, I wonder if they'll go back to the drawing board and try again or try to raise additional funds through pre-orders like what David did for the Ceratopsian campaign. Either way, hopefully it's a good learning experience for the team.

I wonder if an "all or nothing" approach might have helped. Just set the campaign for that 296k goal and have all the figures available to back from the get go. Sure, 296k is a high goal but it might have encouraged potential backers holding out for the other figures to donate right away instead of waiting to see what happened.
