Here we go! I got some prehistoric figures this week (had a good run of old Safari on ebay) and figured I would get this thread started now. :)

Spinosaurus is probably my very favorite dinosaur in general. I enjoy older derivations of it still, even though we are slowly coming to understand this species better with more specimens turning up. I also love Allosaurus, the Ballad of Big Al growing up has a lot to do with that. The Maiasaurus is my first of this species! The Apatosaurus is just a great new posture for my group. And I support any non dino presentation, so the plesiosaur is welcome. :) The Leptoceratops was too exciting a new species for me to pass on... and it really has an attractive appeal to me.

The Battat Museum Gallimimus was an exciting surprise. I wasn't aware of this series before this model arrived. The small brightly colored guy is a Schleich mini copy. The other sauropod and mosasaur are not marked but have CollectA brand traits... copies? Or are their minis not stamped?

Thanks!

Gwangi

The Leptoceratops is a great find and highly sought after. It's one of the few older Safari dinosaurs that I continue to display. Great haul!

BlueKrono

That Carnegie Spinosaurus was my favorite toy growing up. Definitely a keeper.

Halichoeres

Great assortment, the Battat Gallimimus especially!

As for the minis, all my CollectA ones have a stamp on them, so I'd guess those are knockoffs. That said, I don't have those exact ones.

They both come from, or copy, what Everything Dinosaur calls Box of Mini Dinosaurs Set 1 - which I don't have.  I have only Set 3.  But I don't imagine CollectA would have issued any product that was not branded.

I hunted long and hard for the Leptoceratops some years ago.  It's a nice model and I'm still very fond of it.

Paleo Flo

A fine collection. Spinosaurus in general- the animal not the Monster- has grown on me because of it's fossil discoveries and the reconstruction history of that genus.

The Carnegie one is always tempting me

Thank you everyone! For all the dinos, this lot of figures contained the Safari IC tokay gecko and was the real reason I snagged it off ebay... but these dinos are for sure welcome to my collection too. :D

avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian, thank you for the info on the mini dinos. I was suspicious they were copies, but its nice to have the confirmation that the originals are in fact stamped too.

avatar_Paleo Flo @Paleo Flo, it was a favorite of mine ever since JP3, and at the time as a kid while further researching, the mysterious nature of its history only intrigued me more. Today, I struggle with some of the modern claims for it, especially since we still have a rather incomplete picture of it from scant remains and it is heavily inferred from its cousin's remains, but it is still my favorite regardless!

Lastly, these are from a month ago, but I figured I could post them here too before I put them away. And before my other prehistoric batch arrives!

The schleich tarbosaurus caught my eye, the paint scheme attracted me I think. Another older Safari trike and mystery raptor from thrift shopping. Then back in my hometown, the local farm and ranch store swapped from Schleich to CollectA! It is the first time I have had this brand in a store for years. Grabbed the doedicurus and torosaurus, lovely figures. Then I got the old Bully procynosuchus and new CollectA edaphosaurus (any Walking with Beasts fans here?) from a friend in Germany. The Bully especially is a very dear and exciting addition for me!

Well done on the Procynosuchus, even if it was dear!

Saarlooswolfhound

Thank you ceratopsian! To correct my statement previously as it was poorly worded... the procynosuchus was a model I was eagerly searching for and now that I have one it is dear to me. :) I got it from a trade with a very good friend over seas. :)

Thanks for clearing that up, avatar_Saarlooswolfhound @Saarlooswolfhound.  That's a very amusing misunderstanding on my part!

Not to worry my friend, the fault was mine in how I worded it! These oddball types of species are just so special to me. Don't get me wrong, I love dinos too! But anything prehistoric that is any other type of animal (gorgon, mammal, any of the weird and wacky stuff!) it is even more special in my opinion.

I couldn't wait to share any longer! The elephant parade has arrived. :drunken: These guys deserved an outside photoshoot.

My very first Eofauna. I barely have words... I have been saving for these for weeks. They are stunning and gorgeous in every detail. I tried so hard to resist, but have never been happier that I gave in. Ever since I read Steve Brusatte's "The Rise and Fall of the Mammals" (after his other book, "The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs") I couldn't get these guys out of my head. I have always hoped to see more prehistoric mammals from companies. And slowly, it has happened and I hope it continues. Now I dream of the TNG mammals to add to my curation.

Deinotherium

Konobelodon

Paleoloxodon

Steppe Mammoth

And now, all together.

I adore each one! And this will not be the last you see of them. ;) I plan on unpacking some other friends for more photoshoots with them all.

After a hard day, these proboscidians and this sunset comforted me after all.

Eofauna is superb at ancient elephants.  Ancient elephants are the only Cenozoic mammals I have in my collection and I have them just because Eofaunas are so good!  (Mostly that absence is the result of lack of infinite space: choices must be made.)

Paleo Flo

I'm not that much into prehistoric mammals, but the Eofauna ones are the best on the market for that price range.
My mother loves elephants and got the Paleoloxodon recently as a birthday-gift. Shw was blown away.

Really good pics and a nice landscape shot.

Great images, avatar_Saarlooswolfhound @Saarlooswolfhound  - yes it's wonderful to get into the moment with these outstanding collectibles. The TNG's won't disappoint, I have all of their mammals and can attest to their quality.

On a side note, I generally display the Steppe Mammoth with the Wild Safari Mammoth and juvenile, since these are all 1/40  and the other Eofaunas proboscidians are 1/35, but I'm just fussy like that. At the end of the day, I'd have to say that Eofauna made the right decision to move to the larger scale with its superior detail.

EoFauna's elephants really are spectacular. I don't really collect the Cenozoic, because I know it would lead to me collecting extant stuff, but I do have their Palaeoloxodon just because it's that good.

The Edaphosaurus and Procynosuchus are fantastic, too. I love the weirdness of the Permian.

I feel the same way! I hope to see more of these kinds of "weirdos" in years to come.

Couple more from my vacation. One of my favorite species, Allosaurus, and the hotly debated Nanotyrannus.

Halichoeres

That Wild Republic Tyrannosaurus does have kind of juvenile proportions, now that you call attention to it!
