CGI doesn't look as realistic as Prehistoric Planet (just trailer though there is still time)

Is that T.rex vs Quetzalcoatlus ? This like a diss track to controversial scene in Prehistoric Planet.

Infernodrakon apparently.

I think it looks fantastic. Goosebumps!

I'm gonna be honest, my excitement for this is minimal. Prehistoric Planet set a pretty high bar and this doesn't reach it for me. In fact, it looks like a re-tread of what Prehistoric Planet did. Is this set entirely in the Cretaceous? It looks like it, and after watching two season of PP set in the Cretaceous I'm ready to explore more of the Mesozoic. The original WWD did that and that's what I was expecting with this one. The most exciting clips I saw were of the Spinosaurus, because it's the only animal featured that's markedly different from what we saw in PP.

In the Dinosauria thread I said that I was more excited for the next season of Dinosauria than I was for WWD and this trailer definitely confirms it. It's dinosaur media though, I'll still watch it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Watching accurate dinosaurs go about their day-to-day will never get old, I was just hoping for something more.

CGI and animation is worse than in Prehistoric Planet

if those are Brachiosaurus (timecode 0:46) then it's not entirely Cretaceous

Looks great! I'm also a little disappointed if they just stay with the Cretaceous, though. Would have been nice to see some classic British species and locations, too, considering it is a BBC program.

EDIT: Forgot about the previously announced Jurassic Portugal episode!

I forgot about that too. Wish we could have seen some of that in the tailer but knowing it's there gives me hope. It's obviously going to be Cretaceous heavy though. I would have been cool with not visiting Cretaceous North America at all, one reason why I'm excited about Dinosauria!

Wasn't it announced that the Triassic wouldn't be included?

Not officially but I remember someone involved said on social media that there won't be any Triassic representation.

I think it looks pretty good but a bit reminiscent of Prehistoric Planet. Some scenes look familiar now like sauropods fighting and the baby triceratops design (although this one looks a bit more cute) so it's hard to not make comparisons. Also can we get another ceratopsid outside triceratops and pachyrhinosaurus? Well we'll see how the whole production turns out, hopefully it'll be good!

True but also this seems to be more fun & action packed than PP. If new one has the story telling of old it might end up better than PP.

With that said, impact of original WWD can not be matched. That was groundbreaking achivement.

Joliezac

Prehistoric Planet looked much better in terms of CGI and animation, but that's ok this still looks really fun! I was disappointed Spinosaurus wasn't in Prehistoric Planet so I'm very excited for that segment here!

I'm uncertain whether to consider this my comrade-in-arms, or my arch-nemesis... XD

LIke avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi I'm more excited for avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby upcoming Dinosauria part 2, but I'll still give this a watch when it comes out.

Not sure how I feel about the lack of Kenneth Branagh and Ben Bartlett here either, as those two really played a big role in how successful the first series was, other then the prehistoric fauna on display. Tim Haines isn't behind this one either and is working on another called Surviving Earth (no idea when that releases though). It's got a lot to live up to when taking the former namesake of the original series, and unfortunately after releasing Prehistoric Planet which have done of the same offerings here but better (such as the Hell Creek stuff).

At least we have some new content with the Gastonia and Utahraptor, and Spinosaurus. Wish they would have showed the Jurassic stuff more as that's what's been sorely needed after a Maastrichtian heavy Cretaecous Prehistoric Planet. Life on our Planet did do quite a bit more but also re-used JW models, and was filled with outdated nonsense so it was a mixed bag for me. A Triassic period sequence would have been another good inclusion and unfortunate they are passing it by. So many weird critters and even early dinosaurs they could have focused on. Early Jurassic too with Dilophosaurus, Scuttelosaurus and Sarahsaurus as an example. And although it is Cretaceous, I wish one of these docs would focus on the Yixian with Yutyrannus etc. I don't think there's a single doc with it, despite everyone basing their feathered tyrannosaurs off it and Dilong, etc.

At least in the sauropod department I'd say you have them beat lol, your depiction of nasal "baloons" is much more believable imo

Dynomikegojira

Lola Productions definitely stepped there game up from Dinosaurs The Final Day so they exceeded my expectations actually and my goodness the onscreen violence is back and a lot of mix of species with plenty of good designs although maybe a bit bland bur still sucks the the Triassic was omitted but oh well at least Surviving Earth well cover that next year. Overall I'm pretty pleased with what we've seen.

Brocc21

I'm expecting to enjoy the single locality per episode format more than I did Prehistoric Planet's. Much like everyone else I'm disappointed by the over representation of the Cretaceous, but I do like the species showcased so far (Am I the only one who thinks this Rex design is an intentional remake of the original?).

But I must say, it doesn't feel like Walking With. Perhaps its too early to say, but the style and direction just isn't the same. And I am sure to miss Branagh and Bartlett's contributions.
