Special Edition Purple version is now officially sold out. Congradualtions to those who managed to snag a copy!

Torvosaurus

I ordered the limited edition model. I could have ordered the purple version, I just really didn't care for it, personally. Anyways, I've got a couple of months to butter up the wife. I should be able to really, really get on her good side. 🙂

Just woke up (it is 5:40 in the morning in Europe) and finally the pre-order has apparently opened. My price estimate was 200 USD and it turns that this is spot on. I am still slightly undecided which one I will order, it will be either the brown or the special edition (which I may call gray).

No chance to get the special purple edition as even Europeans have to sleep at times and when pre-orders open in the middle of the night we are out. As we are by definition out when it comes to the designer editions as they even are not shipped to Europe.

Well darn I didn't know it was THAT limited. That's the one I wanted.  I wonder if HLG will put some up on their Amazon page?

Thank you very much for your support. There are many things that I am not suitable to disclose too much. But what I want to say is that I have been solving these problems for everyone, and my time and energy alone are limited, so I need some time. Currently, in addition to designing the gift playing cards, I am also involved in designing another species after the Triceratops, which will require more time to carve. Don't worry, give me some time, I will try my best to provide the best service to everyone.

Which again would mean that people from Europe and many parts of the world are out.

Can we talk about how it is as big as a young child like in that one pic they have up there? Apologies if someone mentioned this already, but jeez wow that really helps sells how massive it is.

If anyone of you all get this, and have any of the Mattel sauropods, please please drop a comparison of them together, and tag me.

Talked with Lana, they are ordering 20 more of the purple on that is up now on the site, I just ordered mine. :)

I thought the special edition version was the best-looking----but it doesn't look purple to me.

Paleo Flo

To my surprise I think I like other variants more than purple. I am turn between brown and the version which can be seen in the picture with the sizecomparisons from above with HLGs other Sauropds. Can anyony tell me if that is the blue or the limited version?

I am not exactly clear if I will spend that amount of money.

It's a very great release, no question. I personally would have prefered the Brachiosaurus/Giraffatitan more.

The one in the pictures with size comparisons (as well as in the picture with the child) is the Blue version (HLG-129) I think. You can recognize this by the bright (almost white) stripes running horizontally on both sides. The special edition (HLG-131) has dark stripes instead of white stripes.

After Haolonggood has released the Argentinosaurus and the Alamosauris I am fairly confident that Brachiosaurus (or Giraffatitan) will come sooner or later.

Thanks a lot. That makes the choice not easyer for me ^^

I actually ordered the special edition (HLG-131) because when I checked Lana website the purple variant was displayed as sold out. I was not expecting that there would be more purple ones coming.

Thanks a lot for this initiative, which helps people on this side of the world to have a chance of getting the purple variant as well. Very much appreciated.

Right from the beginning I wanted this monstrosity to be as dark as possible. That's why I ordered HLG 131 :) .
Because I already have the purple Alamosaurus that wasn't an option for me. I don't want the Alamosaurus to look like a tiny juvenile ;D .

I like about this that the tan to ochre color of the ventral side extends a bit higher up which makes for a nice contrast with the darker color on the dorsal side. But all four color variants look just great in their own way.

Now the question is: Will we see the Brachiosaurus being released before or after the turn of the year?

Paleo Flo

Do you think that the brown version looks more like their yellow Apatosaurus or has it a more orange/almost red colour?

I can't quite figureout, if the blue variant has the same blue as their blue Mamenchisaurus. In the shots with the other sauropods and the child it seems to be elephant grey and on the beach-pics it seems top be more bluey.

After the words of avatar_postsaurischian @postsaurischian I think, think and re-thing the choice of colour.

It will stand next to my yellow Apato and to my blue Mamenchi...and it should not look the same as this two.

Well, the price and shipping costs are more or less what I was expecting but it still hurts seeing it in writing! Still probably going to wait to see what it'll cost from a domestic retailer before shelling out for this big beast. Sure, it means I probably won't get the add ons but those aren't really worth the 90$+ shipping cost to me.

As far as the paint variants go, HLG has once again not made the decision very easy! I find each of them appealing in their own way. My initial instinct (and most likely the one I'll end up going with) was the green variant, but I really enjoy the mottling of colors on the brown variant, and the horizontal stripe on the blue variant is really nice. Ironically, the limited edition Purple variant might be the least tantalizing to me. On one hand, it's a bit too similar to their Alamosaurus (which I have), and it's also a fair bit "busier" than the other color schemes. For such a large animal, I prefer the more simplistic colors, feels like they speak to a long life.

Regardless, I've got some time to mull it over seeing as it usually takes a while for US sellers to stock these new HLG figures, but I look forward to seeing more in hand photos to help me decide! Either way, this is an absolutely monumental achievement of a figure and one that I simply must have!

One more thing...is that reconstruction not "too big" in comparison with their other sauropods?
When I made a quick research of the genus at wikipedia I wondered if the torso is not too high when compared with Apatosaurus?
Is it really 1:35? May some of the sauropod-experts can tell if I am on the wrong or the right way.
