Quote from: Faelrin on February 27, 2025, 09:18:35 PMThe videos avatar_DinoToyForum @DinoToyForum describes are also often filled with ads. They pad them out with as much filler and junk to make more money, and youtube ads are typically notorious time wasters (unless you use ublock origin). I typically avoid videos like this for all the reasons he said and that one.

The YouTubers aren't creating such pointless content for the fun of it. The channels might have started out as true passion projects, but the creators have become slaves to themselves in the hunt for ad views. A case of quantity over quality. The videos obviously exist for the ad views and, to be fair, the creators are only partly to blame. Youtube is cruelly pressuring content creators to behave this way by demonetizing channels that don't consistently meet a set quota of views. If the quota isn't met, they demonetize all the videos on the channel, past ones and new ones. Youtube still puts ads on the videos to make money for itself, of course, but the content creator gets nothing. It's sick, and it's why I walked away from my own Youtube channel when I started feeling pressure to create high volumes of low-quality content for the sake of meeting the quota.

Aaaugh the Titanosaurus was the only part of this lego theme I was particularly interested in. Guess I'll be looking for that Titanosaur on Bricklink or ebay.

Youtube puts adds on videos even if a channel or video isn't monetized. It's not fair to blame the content creators for that.
Trans rights are human rights.

avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek I forgot they did that sort of thing. My apologies for the incorrect info.

I'm going to call this now. And I will readily admit that I could be totally wrong here, but here it is anyway:

I think that Rebirth is going to fall short of box office expectations. I don't believe it'll be an outright flop, but I do suspect that it will not perform nearly as well as the last three films. Every franchise inevitably reaches a point where the audiences just aren't into it like they used to be. Transformers definitely proves that. So does Star Wars. And from all that I've read about Rebirth's plot, it strikes me as pretty inane.

Again, I could be dead wrong, but that's my feeling at the moment.

Adding to this is the recent downward trend of box office returns in general. Of course there have been plenty of exceptions even in the past year but it seems that a lot of tentpole films are underperforming as of late. You know something's wrong when ticket sales for something as big as the MCU are starting to flag.

That said, I think a key factor for Rebirth, as with the past three Jurassic films, will be how it lands at the international box office which is becoming even less easy to predict

Blade-of-the-Moon

I said it before, I'm more excited for Camp Cretaceous than this new film at least as of now. But it's a whole new story in universe and we haven't seen much to draw us in. I'm certainly going to see it but as of now I feel there are things they could have done to make it better. I recall Universal was already deep in pre-production for this one as they searched for a director. They had a script and went at it.   For me JP is nostalgia fueled. JW not so much but the first film in that trilogy really set me off.  I'm hoping for another one of those. It just hit me on a lot of levels.  I wish this movie had spent a little more time on design, I keep coming up with what ifs. What if they put the JP3 Spino in it. What if they used the Ultimasaurus instead of this mutant? Both are things I would have been excited for.  The story about dinos not surviving and migrating back to warmer climates is just weird after the last two films. I can't say much else because I haven't seen it.

Looks like JWB's Aquilops is just JWD's Microceratus :-\ Disappointing, but not surprising ::)

Yeah that was disappointing. Incorrect eye placement and all. I've wanted Microceratops in the franchise forever.

Faelrin

Not surprising, but pretty awful mistake to repeat, but hopefully it looks better in the final film. The toys give the impression it might be the case too, albeit some stylization (Mattel and Lego).

I think they may just be using the same Microcera puppets from Dominion. Makes sense it would copy the same problems I guess.

Ok, well luckily it doesn't appear to actually breathe fire, only look like something that would..  so that's good :)
