The "winged dinosaur"/"flying raptor?" sounds interesting.

Given how these people that watched it know next to nothing about dinosaurs or even what they are really seeing has me highly skeptical about their descriptions.

Faelrin

It's just marketing material illustrations so far, but man this little guy is cursed, much like the prior Microceratus. Awful hands, and eye placement as we observed earlier. Straight up brachycephalic.

The first dinosaur to be bred like a pug, I guess

with human hands

Blade-of-the-Moon

I think they just tweaked the Microceratops from Dominion.  It needed more than tweaking. How did their paleo advisor miss this?

IIRC, that's Brusatte, which isn't surprising. Remember how JWD turned out? ;) To quote myself ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=6700.msg251373#msg251373 ), "if the popular dino books he's authored/consulted on are any indication, I'm not sure he'll be much help" (& that's assuming they actually listen to him):

Ugh..I'm so disappointed in it, hope it's not a major plot point.

Please for the love of Pete...

STOP with Jurassic. We are at Last Jedi levels of excrement here. Every franchise eventually dies. LET IT DIE.

If you have to remake something, how about someone doing a big budget Land That Time Forgot?

And where the hell is my Cenozoic Tales/Cadillacs And Dinosaurs movie or streaming series??

Where the hell is an actually GOOD DINOTOPIA series??

And another thing... why isn't DEVIL DINOSAUR in the MCU? Where is the SAVAGE LAND? WHERE'S TUROK?

So many possibilities even if you can't do something original...

I think they are afraid to compete. Dinotopia and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs would be excellent films/series. As I said before, I'm good with a nice retro dino film at this point.    JP/JW has gotten so complex a film can't give us much aside from what we have already seen anyway. An animated series does a better job at this point.

Well, I can't remember who or what said this, but it's actually hard to pitch anything dinosaur related because execs just say "That's JP's thing, they already did dinosaurs first"
You will be surprised how many things get shot down by executives.
It seems obvious to us that it's an untapped market and the sheer variety that can be offered with dinosaur movies, but not to somebody who only thinks business.

It doesn't help that the only other big dino film that came out recently was 65 and it was just a complete garbage fire of a movie.

On that topic, why can't people think of a better way to show dinosaurs than have them being shot with guns? That's so boring.
That's what absolutely plagues dino games.

A toy, that gives a pretty good look at the mutant has been leaked.

It does a lot more like a mutated rex from the image, which I appreciate, I guess.

Just found out about "We Are Number One but Spinosaurus jp" & now I kinda wish JWR did that instead of Spino+Mosa :P (which, while not necessarily bad, still "seems random": https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=11253.msg388667#msg388667 ):

I think it was fine making a more accurate Spino in the new film, but fans WANT the JP3 Spino. That should have been heavily taken into consideration. My best guess is they can't remake the JP3 Spino in animatronic or CG form correctly..much like they tried again and again with the JW dinos. They are just incapable.

Joliezac

The JP3 spino is my favorite JP dinosaur and I was really excited when I found out spinosaurus was going to be in this movie. However, after seeing the trailer, my hype has died way down for the movie. I don't like the mutated dinos, and spinosaurus looks like a poor attempt at something more accurate but it just looks grotesque to me. I guess that was what they were going for, but I'm not really a fan. Maybe my mind will change after seeing the movie.

Imagine if there's a throwaway line in Rebirth about how the JP3 Spinosaurus really was a hybrid the whole time, and that it's since been exterminated. Sure, it would infuriate a lot of fans, but at the same time, it would be a perfect explanation for the appearance of the new Spinosaurus.

Personally I prefer the new ones because Spinosaurus is a really distinct looking animal.
I'm always gonna love the JP3 one, but it was time it got an update IMO. I wish they would do the same for the others.
Make T. rex fatter and bigger jaws. Totally redo Triceratops and give it longer horns. Feathered Velociraptor. Thin-faced Baryonyx. The real animals look so wacky and cool and interesting!

And I'm not just saying it from a place of wanting accuracy, I genuinely think the real animals have certain shapes and attributes that the creature designers have been sleeping on. So I'm happy to see these new Spinosaurs with their huge tails. They have webbed feet, too!

The one thing that I really prefer about the JP3 Spino over the new ones is the colours, I think the brown, blue and white is just gorgeous. It has really nice green eyes, too.

The new Spinosaurus are apparently older than the JP3 Spinosaurus, so that I don't think what you've said would explain anything.  Additionally, I see no relevance to exterminating the JP3 Spinosaurus.

Actually, it would explain things perfectly if you really think about it. InGen creates those three first, but management declares that they're ugly and tourists won't like them, so they order Wu to create a "better" version. And stating that it's dead would cement the Rebirth Spinosaurus trio's status as the real deal.
