Personally wishing to get a redeco of ol' "Sinoceratops" Pachyrhinosaurus, but I know that's a real long shot when the new Pachyrhino mold is still on shelves. I just really need me that lakustai.

Quote from: andrewsaurus rex on April 17, 2025, 01:41:46 PMi'm not sure Dentaneosuchus was such crazy speculation, given Mattel's penchant for making obscure dinos and prehistoric reptiles.  I say lucky guess, Gwangi.  :D

Nah, not a lucky guess. I knew immediately it was at least a gorgonopsid and most likely Inostrancevia. It doesn't look anything like Dentaneosuchus or Mattel's past pseudosuchians.

To be honest, Gwangi....i don't think a lot of Mattel's figures look anything like what they are supposed to be....lol.

They can be hit and miss, but not in this case.

Everybody knew it was a gorgonopsid right away from the blurry little frames of it in the Spinosaurus ad, I would call it a good sculpt based on that fact. If it's that recognisable, it's good.

I think just about the only Mattel figure I thought had a genuinely bad likeness from the past year or so has been the Neovenator. It's not an awful looking figure but I would never have guessed the species. (And it looks really ugly IMO, way too cartoonish.)

suspsy

I always took it to be a gorgonopsid, but it could have easily ended up being Gorgonops or Dinogorgon.

Definitely snatching this guy up.

I can think of a couple others, like the Mapusaurus, but for the most part Mattel gets the broad strokes correct.

Their new Tyrannotitan missed the mark a bit too I would say but it does look very pretty

I'll take it as a revisit to the OG Lycaenops! Is it already out?

The new Super Colossal T. rex has an incredible sculpt, it looks like a proper Stan Winston T. rex

This is from a video from Jurassic Panama on Instagram. They also filmed some of the other Rebirth figures on shelves.

Seriously, just cut those few extra teeth off and then it's the best T. rex sculpt Mattel has made.
I want a Hammond Collection T. rex using this same 3D model as a base.

Found the new wave at Walmart today and picked up the Hypsilophodon. i should have waited on the " juv. Carnotaurus" as they had two of them too.

In Panama yes, or at least someone's not adhering to shelf dates.

Time for a quick trip to Panama I guess!

What do you mean by the Carnotaurus? Which figure?

The Guemesia.  It's been used as a Juv. Carno by collectors and called such due to the appearance.

Oh, despite the fact that we have two actual juvenile Carnotaurus figures, lol-
When you said that, I thought there must be a new single pack version of that which I missed the info on.

I find Mattel's obsession with re-releasing Monolophosaurus and Proceratosaurus perplexing. Either they truly are popular among the children, or they just produced so much excess stock from previous years that they're trying to liquidate.

Edit: Just noticed that the Proceratosaurus looks to be a direct repack of the CC Attack Pack version.

Again, I really hope Canada doesn't get screwed out of the Torvoneustes like it did out of the Dakosaurus.

And in addition to the Scutosaurus, I'd like the Coelurus, the Prestosuchus, and the Sauropelta to be rereleased again.

And Nothosaurus, this time in blue if they can manage it, just like the CC colours.
That Nothosaurus is simply too nice of a figure to be as rare as it is. I was lucky to find one.

avatar_suspsy @suspsy Prestosuchus just got a re-release this year in one of the Dino Reveal sets. With the action feature stripped out, and even less paint.

Or did you mean the Postosuchus which we haven't had in the line since 2020?
