Quote from: Sim on August 12, 2025, 07:22:23 AMThe grey one's colouration does indeed look like that of other Haolonggood figures, but I'm surprised the other one is getting criticised for the same reason as its colouration doesn't look like any other figure's!

The orange Brontosaurus looks like a sort of remix of the brown Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus to me. But the grey Apatosaurus being a copy-paste of the other figures is certainly more noticeable.

Quote from: JohannesB on August 12, 2025, 04:48:06 PMI this model does not have Brontosaurus' distinct squared off mouth

We'll need some closeups from above, but based on what we've seen so far, I'd say it appears to have that squared off snout:

A priori it looks like an improvement over their Apatosaurus as far as head reconstruction is concerned, but again, more pics will be needed.

Quote from: crazy8wizard on August 07, 2025, 07:48:21 PMIf Haolonggood can make a T. rex and a Daspletosaurus look visually distinct, there's no doubt that they can make 3 titanosaurs look visually distinct, even if they are incomplete.

Not quite the same situation. Sure, Tyrannosaurus and Daspletosaurus look alike, but they can still be told apart (even if two figures of them were the same size and color, and posed the same way) because there are known differences between the two of them.

I don't think those giant titanosaurs are sufficiently well-known to the point where you can look at one them and confidently say: "that's X species". Instead, you have to be told what species does the paleoart in question represent. Otherwise, you'd most likely be clueless at what exactly you're looking at. And the manufacturer has to get creative in order to make figures of them look sufficiently distinct (and even then, one can still notice that they all follow the same idea, as if they're all the same figure, just with different colors and poses, and even the osteoderms tend to look the same).

Maybe it's because I know more about theropods than I do about titanosaurians, but at least this is how I feel. I'm certainly not a big fan of titanosaurians, yet I still consider some of them to be worthy choices for a figure on the basis of the good quality of their remains, namely the smaller taxa like Diamantinasaurus, Rapetosaurus, Inawentu, etc.

Although I think the yellow/blue one is probably too extravagant in its coloration for a real sauropod, I did get it. It will certainly stand out 8)

I went for the brown/yellow/orange too. It certainly has eye appeal (to me at least).

I went for brown, too, as none of my other sauropods have a similar color (but some are more like the grey version).

I'm not sure which one to go for. At first, I thought the grey was going to be my go-to choice (that's the color I envision for apatosaurines myself, and it'd also be noticeably different from the brown Diplodocus I plan on getting).

But I have to say the orange variant is looking really nice in these real life pics. And another advantage of this brownish variant is that it'd come across as a reasonable coloration when those Diplodocus sp. (one of its relatives) skin impressions suggesting a sort of ginger coloration (Gallagher et al., 2023) are taken into account.

I wonder if this orange Brontosaurus is sufficiently different color-wise from the brown Diplodocus? What do you think?

Considering that brown is essentially the official color for dinosaur figures nowadays, I try to avoid it as much as I can in order to increase color diversity in my collection. But that brownish Bronto is a stunner!

To be frank, I am tired of the browns (especially tired of all the brown, looking at PNSO too), tired of the grey, tired of the repeating patterns and colors

I known someone compare it to a "theme" like Invicta or Marx, but I must disagree. It is not the same in my eyes

Diplodocus, albeit brown, looks promising.

There is a paper about Diplodocus skin impression having  possibly ginger or yellow colors around it's legs.

Considering you successfully got your Iguanodon after all, have you considered gambling it again?  :P

Unfortunately too big & expensive to fool customs. I heard they look at internet to check overall prices. Especially suspiciously cheap like Brontosaurus sized toy and shipment under 30 Euro. I might need to try again for deinosuchus though.  :*D

I'm honestly considering getting the brown bronto and using my brown apato as a female. To me this kind of feels like HLG taking a second stab at Apato but not wanting to make a second figure with the same name, kind of like PNSO's Saurophaganax

i have brown Apatosaurus and I ordered brown Brontosaurus  :D from AliExpress MTC

the color scheme looks more interesting than that blue/gray uniform (still avoiding that)

didn't want to risk missing out on the gift base, cuz Lana didn't have Kazakhstan as shipping option on their website
