Hi all, this is my first attempt in making a diorama :) Like most kids growing up in the 90's, I was blown away when I watched Jurassic Park and its sequels. When I chanced upon the papo dinosaur models in the web, I was impressed with the details and decided to try making diorama featuring papo dinosaurs. I hope you enjoy! I'm not aiming to be scientifically accurate, but more of creating a story and capturing the feel of the Jurassic Park movie.

Very wonderful dioramas, Allosaurus is amazing  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

I love the Allosaurus diorama in particular but you've done a great job making that raptor nest look like the one from JP3.

Thank you guys for the comments :) I enjoy creating environments for these dinosaurs to "live in". My next project will be the end scene of Jurassic Park. It'll take some time but I've high hopes for it!

Your dios are great - and the 'ground level' photos are simply fantastic!

Beautiful work!  I like that shot of the velociraptor with the dramatic lighting the best.

Hi all, I decided to make a diorama of the last scene in Jurassic Park. The T-rex is from Papo and the rest are constructed and painted by me. Hope you enjoy!

Wow, that JP one is excellent. Your dioramas are really well made.

I always preferred these handmade dioramas over ones where people just went outside in the garden and plonked their toys down and photographed it. This just feels so much better :)

Any tips for diorama building?

bL00df0x

Thanks for your compliments :)

Yeah, I like the dinosaurs by Papo because they are affordable and follows Jurassic Park. I enjoy creating scenes and tell a story.

Here are some photos of the JP behind the scenes!

Well one think I found out was that styrofoam + wall putty is good for creating natural landscapes.
Styrofoam is not that good for making buildings and if i'm not wrong, styrene is the correct material to use because it doesn't break that easily when you cut it with a pen knife.

I used styrofoam and thats why it isn't smooth and clean. Another tip is using a "Tamiya Weathering Master" for making the walls, crates and banners look worn. It's rather affordable and works really well.

Hope it helps :)

Blade-of-the-Moon

Wow..VERY awesome !

You just need a couple in scale dead Velociraptors. ;)

bL00df0x

Haha...yeah, all I'm missing are the 2 velociraptors!

Battatitan

Woah, Bloodfox, these are really captivating.  :D The lack of accuracy (on the figures' behalf) doesn't detract at all, because the colours and sets are so beautifully natural.  I also like the way you photographed them  :))

I see your point, Tyrantqueen, and I agree that these dioramas are joys to look at, but in my own case creating something as spectacular as these and any other handmade dioramas is probably well beyond my own capabilities (as much as I resent that  :-\ ). Therefore I feel that 'garden dioramas' (which are much easier to create) are just as beautiful in their own way, because taking a figure to a patch of dirt and photographing it doesn't simply guarrantee a masterful and realistic diorama.
Basically I am trying to express that both handmade and 'garden' dioramas have aspects of quality, creativity and realism because to create a good diorama requires different essential factors, as not everyone can whip up a magnificent scene of a bygone era.  :))

Keep up the great work, Bloodfox!

Yeah thats right, both are equally nice. I just prefer the challenge of having to plan, construct and paint. I'm considered very good but since I face the computer the whole day at work, its good to unwind and have some recreational activities.

It's all about preferences i guess. I really like the foliage found in some of the photos in this form! There's so much character it looks fantastic.

Excellent dioramas, bloodfox!

Now this is what I'm talking about for Toycon displays.  I wish I have the talent to make them. Hehehe...

Hello all, after a long hiatus, I decided to do the scene when the T-rex breaks out from fence in Jurassic Park. Hope you guys like it :)
