Despite the static poses, using the digital models to build the original WwD toys really boosted their accuracy, and the paint is pretty good on most of them. A few, like the Ophthalmosaurus, might even be considered downright beautiful. I would be pleasantly surprised if these new figures achieved anything close to that level of quality. Maybe someone who has collected their other products can tell us if they've done justice with their adaptations.

At one point I had all but the Iguanodon and ANkylosaurus (and Ornithocheirus--do I even have to say that?).

They were very technically nice, but really lacked 'life'. The bodies were rigidly straight, feet planted, no dynamism in the pose.  I eventually sold off all but the ones I really liked (Postosuchus, Opthalmosaurus) as I found that figures from other companies were close in overall appearance but had a certain liveliness that I preferred.

That said, the paint and detail is great on them. A little more thought into the poses and they would be on the level of Battats (except with a pop-culture reference to boost their popularity!).

I really want a pair of those in 14W.. ;)

You could try the Discovery Channel dinosaur documentary sound effects department ................. they've been using them for years and, the volume knob goes up to 11  ;)

lol

I've been trying to put together an inexpensive dinosaur mascot to advertise for our Park here..all I could think " I just found some feet ! "   ;D

They do mention collectibles... I'm hoping for some really nice detailed figures based on David's designs as well.

Mybe he can do that in Resin Form, there his creations arent they?

Heck his Antadulivia Tenotosaurus reminds me of Bruton From Dinosaur

Blade-of-the-Moon

If he created them for this show then they are the studio's property. Just like how he can't technically recreate the animals from Dino Rev I don't think.

That's probably a good assumption. Contracts often include statements of ownership of property created under the contract.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Yeah I think so.  Now David could do totally new sculpts and of course we could get them painted up as the film versions..I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

ChrisLikesDinos

It would be kinda cool if Sideshow teamed up with them to produce a WWD 3D Dinosauria Statue or two. Its never gonna happen, but it would be awesome. I hope the figures are decent quality in detail and paint, but I doubt it with the toy company.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Eh, you never know.   Sideshow has a good rep with FOX..they continue to create many licenses from the company..namely Aliens and Predator.  Could be  a good tie in with the Dinosauria line.

Personally I think it looks more like Aladar with some Details from Bruton. And a proper face instead of looking like a horse.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

This is why I shouldn't leave the forum for more than a day. Are these toys UK only?

Everything_Dinosaur

We know about the stomping, roaring Theopod dinosaur feet.  We have got information coming form Vivid the licence holders shortly, or so I have been led to believe.

We can only hope the real action figures look that good.

Any idea if these will have articulations since the are called action figures? I really like the Gorgosaurus and do hope the final product looks as good as that picture.

CityRaptor

Who knows. I have seen some sites call Figures Action Figures when those had no movable parts at all.  Thos do not look movable if they are the actual product.

When do these come out?  Will they be sold at Wal-Mart and other department store?

Blade-of-the-Moon

No idea yet...the film will be released in the U.S. so they should be I would think.

So I take it there are old walking with dinosaur as talk about in the other thread shown here http://www.dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php/topic,378.0.html (got me confuse)

Blade-of-the-Moon

Yes there was an older line of figures made for the first WWD television series.

Yeah wish I could get some but the old WWD and Favorite dinosaur are just not readily available for me at reseller price.  Do you think the new WWD will be better than the old WWD?

Takama

Well, some of the people on this forum are disappointed with the new WWD movie.

just look through the official thread for the movie

PS I know the question was not directed to me, but I just had to have my say.
