Waaaaay too expensive. Man, I know this model is scarce, limited edition and all, but really? ?? Over a Hundred!

Agreed it's overpriced but I bit the bullet anyway as I think this is one of those things I'd regret not getting later. It was close though--if the shipping wasn't free I would have passed. Anyway, the important thing is none of you tell the wife how much it cost...

lol It's probably close to 3 times the original price, but if you love it that much and never plan to re-sell it's a perfectly fine .  The card art looks  pretty cool too with the skeleton behind it. I hadn't noticed that before.

Naw, I don't plan on ever re-selling it. Hell, I still have the Marx dinos and other various chinasaurs I had as a kid. Just out of curiosity, was there another outlet for these selling them at the actual retail price? I don't mind feeling stupid if there was. Live and learn and all that.

Awesome model! Must-have! ... but not for that price.

....... I always thought that there was some reasoning behind the colouration (the bright red head was some kind of flush signalling sexual maturity? .......

Yeah he's a very old male, the red coloration was a sign of sexual maturity, I believe the story mentions this that came with him.
.......

No, the colour is because of "the bone disease that slowly creeps through his ancient body".

I don't understand. How would bone disease change the colour of his skin? Please explain :) Unless I am misunderstand you somehow :-[

Argh :-[! It has been explained, was it by David himself? Was it on DTF v.1 or on a Sideshow forum? I can't remember. Somebody has to! Please help me out! I do not get it all together. But the connection of the bone disease with the head reddening has been explained somewhere. Maybe Blade can remember :-\.

Sadly it does not ship to Germany. But then again, I could not afford it at the moment anyway and I think that  I also have a lot of those books, or translated Versions of them, while I'm not interested in some of the others.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

It's an interesting listing, but I think I'm better off picking and choosing my own books. I can see some gems in there, but also some not so good ones. At least I can get some ideas for new books to purchase by looking at the spines.

And really...no Don Glut enyclopedias? No dinosaur bibliophile would miss out on those :P

That is what I'm thinking aswell. Although the last time buying a book collection paid off for me. But that was a way smaller one. And I got it really cheap. Still had one book that I already had in German, and a copy of "The Dinosaur Heresies", which I already had. But hey, that book is so nice, I now have it twice.

The story mentions bone disease here :
Quote"Known as the Tyrant of Hell Creek, this T.rex stands alone. He has hunted the edge of the old growth forest for more years than he can remember. The food comes to him, walking past the forest on their regular migration routes, and he can count on the old or inexperienced of the herds to wander into his haunted woods.

He needs no social group, for he is a solitary hunter who has perfected his tactics. Other tyrannosaur groups have tried to claim his prized territory, yet he has managed to fight them off. One battle with a gigantic matriarch nearly killed him, leaving a massive wound on his face as a reminder. The number of life-threatening wounds he has sustained and survived is staggering. Triceratops horns, ankylosaur tail clubs and hadrosaur kicks; all wounds have healed leaving him to prowl to woods like some kind of indomitable monster. But perhaps the killer to claim him is not an animal at all, but the bone disease that slowly creeps through his ancient body.

Stalking through the forest, something catches his attention. He stalks toward the intruder, the forest floor so ancient that the moss and moist fallen logs muffle his heavy footsteps. Turning his scarred heard for a better look, he sees that a young tyrannosaur has dared to enter his territory and must be taught a lesson."

But it doesn't mention color. It may have been said in a making of video Sideshow did or by David, but I can't find it either.

'bucketfoot-al' has even more stuff up for sale now - more really nice customs and regular dino figures - I won one of his earlier auctions, got outbid on several others.

Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus

The only one I'd be interested in is the customized Foulkes Rex- but alas, it doesn't fit into my current budget.

Ironically I was interested in it a bit back.  He outbid me and won it when another seller had it up .  The price went so high I just ordered the Rex from Shane and sent it to have Martin create the same piece out of it. heh

Neither yet. I just mailed it to him today. Should look the same when modified, then better once painted. ;)

If you don't want to wait. This is the first really good non-stock photo I have seen of this figure, and so far it looks really good. The paint looks clean and very well executed ;D

Why do I have the feeling that "bucketfoot-al" is still around here on the forum?
