Holy grail of dinosaur collecting?

Hello
I have 2 questions regarding dinosaur collecting.

1. What is the rarest, most sought after dinosaur toy of all time? In other words, the holy grail of dinosaur toys. I'm guessing it could be the Toyway Ornithocheirus, but what do you guys think?

2. What is your personal holy grail? What I mean by this is a toy/model/replica that you own or are currently searching for, which you have been or were desperate to get. Basically, it would be something you want/wanted in your collection, but was really difficult to obtain or is still eluding you.

For me, it was either the Kaiyodo Dinoland Dilophosaurus (not particularly valuable but can be hard to find) and the Geene models Barosaurus (I missed out  the opportunity to get it when it was available)

Thanks :)

A model I'm desperate on getting is the Papo brown running Tyrannosaurus rex.I don't think I prefer it to the green version,I just wanted to have a rarity in my collection.  :)
Yeah,maybe it's the Toyway Ornithocheirus,as you said

Invicta Hunter

It's the same for me really. I would love to own the Toyway Ornithocheirus and the Papo brown running rex but their both so rare it's going to be sometime until either comes up for sale on ebay.

Just think how much they would sell for.... :o

my personal holy grail would be tyco's pachyrhinosaurus, i've never seen one both for sale, and complete

My holy grails...
Flintstones Hunting Party set
Jecsan set (have only seen on ebay once)
Miller Pewter set (have also only seen on ebay once)

My holy grails that I have obtained...
Sega Large Amargasaurus
Happinet Trex (companion piece to the x-plus styraco)
Kleinwelka Diplodocus
Battat Diplodocus
Tokyo metal Iguanodon
Plaho Trex

As far as the rarest figure of all time? I guess that could be multiple figures if you are counting just how many are in existence. There are many "one of a kind" items. Generally though, OOAK pieces are not very sought after as they tend to be obscure hand-made sculptures or prototypes. If we are talking "mass produced" toys... Toyway Ornithocheirus is the rarest one I know of.
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

Toyway made an Ornithocheirus?   :o

Anyone have a photo?  Anyone seen one?

I guess the rarest I have are the Brown Papo Running T.rex and Battat Diplodocus (not so rare). The holy grails I'm looking for are of course, WWD Ornithocheirus, Mini Battat T.rex, Sega Big Yellow Amargasaurus and Happinet T.rex (The green big one with the X-plus style).

Photo belongs to Vlad Petnicki (I think his name was Bucketfoot Al on the old forums...)

WOW.   :o  How big is it?
Don't know. I'd guess it's in a scale similar to the other WWD toys. I don't think there's anyone on the forum who can say either, since this is a pretty rare model.

It's fun learning about really obscure, rare models ^-^

From my point of view, If I have it, will be the WWD Liopleurodon of Toyway and currently, my Dino-Riders figures  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

The Elasmo you can find easily on eBay (or even eBay Germany if you're having trouble) and the brown Paporaptor is fairly common on eBay (albeit with extortionate prices)

My list goes back much further than what has been discussed here so far. My collection starts with SRG metal figures from the 40s (my collection does I don't). To me a Holy Grail should be rare and desirable rather than just rare and butt ugly, which I think is what you mean. When I say that I don't mean the other suggestions were butt ugly I was just defining what I think.

1. My vote would go for the metal SRG Dinichthys. It wasn't part of the original SRG prehistoric line in fact no one is sure how it came about. One theory is it was a special commission by the AMNH to sell in their gift shop to tie in with their Dinicthys display. I have one and it took a long time to nab it. When they do come up on eBay they always top $300.00 at least when I was looking. The next one on my list was the Battat Diplodocus, until I got mine (and I won't admit how much I paid) I regularly kicked myself in the butt for the time I held one in my hands for $18.00 at the ROM and didn't buy it. Actually I still kick myself.

2. You may find my new personal Holy Grail strange but it is the Kaiyodo Dinoland Collection of Natural History boxed Velociraptor & Mososaurus. This is another butt kicker since I held both in my hands for about $5 each at Disney's Dinoland and passed on buying both. Now they go in the hundreds when you see them at all. sigh
