Will the Archaeo get cast and how much?

Thanks

brandem

hey all hope this finds you well, finally got the molds made for archeo and im pretty happy with the final product, this is a test shot but im going to try to borrow a photophile friend's canon to try to get some better shots and the color on the dragonfly isn't really final,  I've been rolling around the prices for finish/unfinished figures in my head and I think I'm looking at $8/$5 for simo and $15/$9 for archeo, if anyone has any input on what prices they think would be fair I'd love to hear it, this is more of a labor of love and wouldn't mind just breaking even :)

the next model to get completed should be popo and I'm looking forward to his paint job.

The prices you are quoting seem fair enough. Might need to know some postage issues, etc.

Thanks for the input sbell, it looks like first class shipping inside the US will cost about three dollars if someone gets just one, and shipping first class somewhere international like the uk looks to be about 7 dollars maybe more for more distant nations, larger orders I haven't checked on yet like whole sets or multiples of the same one, but it shouldn't be to much and I'm willing to do discounts on multiple orders to help even out the cost of shipping.

hey all have some new photos of archaeornithomimus plus the finished photos of poposaurus,
and since I was asked under custom figures I have step one of my molding process for anyone interested.

and a bonus close up of simosuchus

also in addition to my larger scale sculpture I'd like to do a line of 1:100th figures starting with dinosaurs from my region all from around 75 mya, I've sculpted a generic nodosaur along the lines of panoplosaurus since we know nodosaurs were present in Appalachia, and I've also sculpted a ancestor to dryptosaurus feeling confident after some reading that dryptosaurus is a basil enough tyrannosauroid to more derived species that it could represent a chronospecies that remained relatively unchanged in Appalachia until 66mya when it is known from.In addition I am also going to add a appalachiosaurus and hypsibema, rounding out a four piece set that can be bought together or separately. But my question is would anyone be interested in buying 1:100th sets that represent the megafauna from a single place and general period of time.
Heres a few photos;

Blade-of-the-Moon

Wow..lots of detail there for their size and they are hand sculpted..very cool !

Pachyrhinosaurus

Looking good.  8) I especially like your painting style, it brings out the scales well.

thanks, living in the same region I do I'd hoped you'd like the idea of some figures from our underrepresented cretaseous island,

thank you a good dark wash can make things like that pop.

I've considered creating an Appalachiosaurus for the Park..I just wish they'd decide on what kind of arms it has. lol

What kind of price were you thinking for a set of Applachia dinos ? They might be cool to sell here too.

brandem

I know, my 1:100th is likely going to have traditional tyrannosaur arms, if only to better distinguish it from dryptosaurus

Well so far I'm thinking 5 dollars individually and 18 for a set of four together but I may be able to swing less, it all depends on how much plastic goes into them,  that's my retail though hopefully one day I'll produce professional enough work that small online retailers will be willing to order my stuff in bulk

The pricing sounds pretty reasonable to me. If I were to sell them here I'd have to mark them up a bit and account for shipping to clear a profit for the Park as well though.

I think having these here near where they found would be really cool. :)

brandem

I totally agree, I'm looking forward to finishing the set, next two will be slightly larger, which will be fun

Blade-of-the-Moon

Cool!     You get your production up and running, we'll see where your at and amybe we can offer them here as a retail location ?

brandem

Sure that would be great, thanks blade, I'll likely have my demos done in a couple weeks, I'm about 4 hours away from you I've meant to go down sometime and see your work, little more than a day trip though ill have to find something to see near by to warrant a weekend trip.

Cool, try to come in May..Park is more impressive when all the trees and plants are growing.  You could also visit the Grey Fossil Site, they have a Trike skeleton on display. There is a big metal Rex skeleton sculpture nearby too. If you like caving there is a place that does tours near us too called Worely's Cave. I can also point out places to eat if interested. Your not far from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge either once here..around 2 hours..and they have a lot of attractions of all kinds.

I will finally chime in--I have to say, I think your plan of small figures representing a fauna from a particular locale is brilliant (I have suggested it many times to many companies). It then gives two markets--collectors (who just like things, and often like stories behind them) and at least a few potential gift shops (as seen here already) from the local region that would of course want to carry some site-specific product.

Whether I would purchase this particular set at some point is more influenced by a few things--I'm less of a dinosaur-proper collector these days than a fish and non-dino person; but given your suggested prices it certainly wouldn't prevent me from considering it. I would definitely watch what else comes down the pike, that's for sure (Spinosaurus + various prey fish species?...I have to say it everywhere ;D).

Speaking of which, I cannot remember what the prices and sizes of the Simosuchus and Poposaurus are... ;)

Cool, try to come in May

I usually head down to Florida in may, I may be able swing by on the way up or down. Aside from that if I do make it a weekend all that sounds interesting, I'm usually not a fan of Gatlinburg but I've always meant to see their aquarium which is an idea. but I'm
definatly coming by sometime

that would be a great spinosaur set, im familier with Onchopristis, and Laganosuchus would probably be good in the set but I would have to do more research to fine fish that would look good in the same scale as a 1:100th spinosaurus, or the spinosaurus scale from a different series.

and thank for asking I almost forgot to add that info for poposaurus, who is from nose to tail 8 inches in 1:20 scale and im thinking 14 dollars us for a completed figure, and simo is 3 inches nose to tip in 1:10 scale and right now is 8 dollars us but im thinking of dropping it to 7 because my new plastic is much less of a hassle to use.
