Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, UK. Great displays as always.

Hi, UK
Hope you get well soon.
I realy like your two "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" items.
I just recently managed to get a hold on the "Frenguellisaurus".
I do believe I have the large version ( http://www.clawmarktoys.com/shop/dinos/dawn-of-the-dinosaurs-tokyo-frenguellisaurus-figure/ )
NOT the small one ( http://www.clawmarktoys.com/shop/dinos/dawn-of-the-dinosaurs-exhibit-exclusive-frenguellisaurus-figure/ ).
But, It is said to be made out of "hard vinyl resin" - and I wonder what does it mean ?
Mine can be slightly bent at the tip of the tail and I wish to ask if yours is hard solid or can also be bent a litle ?
Thanks

I think the Frenguellisaurus may have actually come in three sizes. One was boxed by itself (like the other two resin figures), one was packaged with a book and was only slightly smaller, and the third was a very small capsule figure (that's the Clawmark figure you posted, I believe).

As for the material, you can make "resin" from several different polymers. Most of the resin figures on the market are polyurethane, but it is also possible to make it from polyvinyl esters. I don't know all the chemistry of it but it's possible that your copy is a bit more pliable because it is made from vinyl esters instead of urethane. This forum really needs a materials scientist!

Happy New Year Steve! 🎉

Glad to know you're getting better.

I also have a collector friend who changes his display once in a while and stores the others in storage bins. I was planning to do the same, but have not done it yet.

Your collections have always been awesome. Nice to see them on creative displays. 😇

I have the "packaged with a book" version.
It is 13 cm from tip to tip along the spine.

That confirms it! I have the boxed-by-itself version and it's about 18 cm.

Thanks Jan. Starting to feel better now. Think the Aussie Flu is finally departing. Must thank our antipodian friends for sharing such a delightful strain.

I'm vintage so I must be attracted to all things old.

Hope all is well in the Netherlands.

I have both. I'm sure they seem to have similar materials and rigidity with the main difference the size. Wonderful renditions.

Change a few bits and bobs, adding some non dinosaur items.

Having seen Boki's excellent mammal display, I've put my more modest skills to the test for middle shelf.

Lanthanotus

As always, a pleasure to see your updates :)

I looked a bit out for those Brumm figures, but whatever I searched for, the best results I got were for some die cast (?) car models. Quite weird, would have expected a fair few collectors (with some web presence) in Germany. Any advices where or what I should look out for in terms of internet search?

Shonisaurus

The uintatherium and the andrewsarchus of Play Visions together with the palorchestes and smilodon of the same company are the most sought after figures for which we are collectors and very rare figures in any collection. I congratulate you for that exceptional collection of prehistoric mammals!  ^-^

Thank you and good luck on your search. You will get there in the end. Sometimes we just need to play the long game.

Bokisaurus

Nice Collection ^-^ Are those flat metal dino figures? They look cool.

Change over day came a little later. A few oldies, all from Germany on the lower two shelves.

Nice Marx repaint.
Have you done it yourself ?

These are from a rare set of Marx figures created for the Berliner expo toy Fair in the early sixties. 12 hard plastic painted figures constitute the set, as you can see two are missing from mine. I've only ever seen mine but I know there are a number of dedicated American collectors who have complete offerings.

Several of mine have little chips or bits missing, they're hard plastic which time hangs heavy on. Thank you for the compliment of painting them but my talents are definitely not it the artistic realm.

Bokisaurus

Love how you change your display, make it so much more interesting.
Those are cool figures, I really love your retro figures. :D

Halichoeres

What were the two painted Marxes that you don't have? Were the Cynognathus or Sphenacodon ever offered in painted versions?
