Great poll :)! Kind of perfect and I like the no time limit option.
Maybe you'd like it the way I'm doing it with the Sideshow poll - everytime new models are being released I set all votes to 0, include the new models and restart the poll.

..... I'm not sure if it was a good idea to remove the Papo brown standing T. rex :-\, since it's also a re-sculpt - especially the head, but okay, it's not THAT different.

EDIT:  :D 10 voters, 9 for Battat! Pretty good quote.

Interesting results so far. The Battat is in the lead and I'm not surprised at all by that! I am surprised that the Papo figures are not getting more votes and I'm deeply saddened that the Safari Sue toys are not more popular. I think they're easily among the top ten! But all well, we'll see what happens!

You can call the JP T-Rex a fantasy monster or something else, It may be very inaccurate for the present, but I will never be able to get over the feather debate, because the JP T-Rex that was created by the legend that is Stan Winston, will always be the way I'll imagine a Tyrannosaurus, that is the way it is printed in my mind and inner world, it will always be one of the most inspirational and astonishing dinosaurs in film history, if not the most. The CGI that lives up to this day, the uniqueness that it has, is unprecedented. Therefore the figures that I have chosen are the Papo Running T-Rex and the REBOR King T-Rex. I do realize that this may make some people sneer in this forum, but I'm staying true to my feelings and opinion about this subject.

I never said I had a problem with the JP Tyrannosaurus. I even have it in my avatar and I gave it an honourable mention.  My first ever dinosaur toy that I purchased when I got into serious collecting was the Papo Tyrannosaurus.

My criteria for a good Tyrannosaurus includes accuracy. I'm not saying that Winston's T.rex doesn't have elements of the real animal worked into the design (all good fantasy designs are inspired by real life elements) but it was designed in the 1999s and hasn't really changed since then. Our knowledge of Tyrannosaurus has moved on. I personally believe the probability of Tyrannosaurus possessing feathers to be high. But I'm open minded about both- scaly or feathered are both fine by me.

If I remember correctly, Michael Trcic (the artist who provided guidance for the sculpting of the JP T.rex) stated that he considered it to be 80% accurate. That's fairly good, but he wasn't completely satisfied with it. He sculpted the Favorite Ltd. Tyrannosaurus to be much more accurate.

I vote all papo model and rebor, they are more than perfect for diorama model i think

Blade-of-the-Moon

I just kinda voted on what I liked..no specific criteria aside a bit of nostalgia..;)

Takama

I voted models i had, and models that i think look the best (also ones that i know of without looking them up)

I voted for ones that are either awesomely speculative(CollectA Feathered T. Rex), beautifully sculpted(Rebor King T. Rex), or sweetly sentimental(Invicta and Tyco T. Rex).

All 10 of my votes went for tail dragging tripods. I thought they might need a bit of support. (now that I think about it, they don't need support - they're tripods :P )
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Manatee

I didn't have any criteria except for accuracy. I voted for the CollectA Feathered, Kaiyodo Feathered, Takara Tomy 2012 Dino Kingdom (also feathered), and a couple others that aren't feathered.

I understand the reasoning but I worry that some votes may be lost forever (voters may no longer frequent the forum). Rather than resetting to zero, I feel a better way could be to add the new figure to the options and set the poll to allow people to change their votes if they wish. Then it is a more cumulative approach in which old members are still represented (even if they might have voted differently if the choice was different).

Blade-of-the-Moon

with all the different criteria we're using it should make for some interesting results..lol

I have to be honest: the Battat T. Rex has never impressed me all that much.

It is one of the most accurate, if not the most accurate T-Rex produced yet...but the look and feel of the sculpt itself if a great selling point for me. But we all like what we like of course. :)

Two of the most underrated figures on the above list to me are the Resaurus TRex (sadly out of production for about 8 years so I understand how many members have never held it and played with the "18 points of articulation")  and Araki's feathered 1/50 Favorite Trex.

Here is a review of the Resaurus:

I only actually used seven of my votes, since I'm not familiar with almost any of these.

Although I'm sure that I'll feel stupid after seeing some of them.

The Resaurus T. rex is quite nice. I have the Giganotosaurus already and quite like it as well, someday I'll get my hands on the T. rex too.

I personally don't really care for the Favorite feathered T. rex, and I'll illustrate why with pictures from the review.

It's the eyes, they just ruin it for me! Marc mentioned them in his review....

QuoteHaving a decent head on one's T. rex figure is very important (as has been amply demonstrated in the recent past), and here I feel that one figure is significantly better than the other. For alas, there's something a little...off about the head on Feathered. Now, as anyone will tell you, a T. rex skull flares out at the back in such a way that both of its eyes face forwards. Unfeathered captures this perfectly. However, on Feathered, the orbits appear to be too high – up to where the bony bosses would be – and so the eyes appear to be ever-so-slightly on stalks. Subsequently, it takes on a rather comical, one might say derpy, appearance when viewed head-on (as above) – whereas Unfeathered remains dignified

It's a shame too. But that combined with the shiny varnish on both of the new Favorite rexes mean that I still consider their original to be the best of the three.

Sim

My top 2 are the Battat Tyrannosaurus and the original Favorite soft model Tyrannosaurus.  Both are very well made and accurate.  I mentioned why I like the Battat Tyrannosaurus earlier in this thread.  Other reasons I like Favorite's one are: I really like its pose!  It's also nicely detailed and looks very nice.

In addition to the two above, I also voted for:
The Carnegie 10th Anniversary Tyrannosaurus, which has a few flaws, but I think is still a very good figure.  Its glossy, gold eyes look alive!
The "original big red" Jurassic Park Tyrannosaurus.  It's a great toy which I had a lot of fun with as a child, despite it losing one of its finger claws, and wishing I had a sauropod toy bigger than it to also play with as it never felt right having a Tyrannosaurus be my biggest dinosaur.

Wow, a lot of work put into this, Gwangi! Thanks for the effort and idea!

I know I'm too late for any changes to be made. But just my two cents anyway... 8) I agree with postsaurischian about the elimination of the Papo Brown standing T. rex. It really is a slightly different sculpt amd major different paint job. Although, in contrast to postsaurischian, I personally still overall like the original one better. Hehe! So when you see my vote for the Papo Standing T. rex, it's for the original one. ;)

The only entry I really question is the Schleich World of History Tyrannosaurus. There are actually 3 different sculpts available right now, plus a 4th alternate paint job of their latest.
There's the 2012 Dark Green & Tan, the 2014 Bending Down Lime Green, and the 2 Exclusives -- Red and Gold, that came out towards the end of 2014. They're not just color variations of the 2012. The difference in their sculpts are quite noticeable.

These are the 4 currently available Schleich World of History Tyrannosaurs I'm speaking of...

Like I said, the Gold one is just a color variant of the new Exclusive Red Rex. But the other 3 that a currently available are quite different sculpts, I would think they would all be included. I personally only like the new Exclusive Red Rex myself. So it would be hard to just vote for the general World of History entry. But like I also said, I'm a bit late with this suggestion -- you snooze you lose! LOL!

P.S. ~ I can't believe I spent all this time and trouble over Schleich figures. :))  Haha!
