Do we have a top 10 Giga poll by any chance? Or are we waiting for a papo and rebor one if they ever make one?

S @Syndicate Bias, I don't think there are enough Giganotosaurus figures for a top 10 poll to be worthwhile, but how about a top 10 allosauroid toys poll (excluding Allosaurus)?  I'm thinking of doing it but would be happy to let you do it since I know you like this group more than I do!

I'd love that! If you really wanna do it though I don't wanna take that from you  ;D

I approve of such a poll as well, sounds good! I don't mind who starts the thread, but remember to create a thread to generate a shortlist in the first instance, and then the poll can be added and the thread title edited later. This is to avoid false starts.

I also like avatar_Loon @Loon's idea for a mammal thread, mammoths seems like an obvious choice. 8)

I decided to start the top 10 allosauroid toys poll.  I'd like to see a third poll, if no-one else wants to do one I could start a top 10 ceratopsids toys (excluding Triceratops) poll?  Like the allosauroids, ceratopsids have been represented with lots of good figures so it should make a fun poll!

Something I've been thinking for a while now is a top ten Paleozoic figure poll (excluding Dimetrodon, which honestly would probably be better off having its own poll at some point, due to the sheer absurd number of them on the market, past and present). Assuming there would be enough interest in something like that, could I give that a go?

I like that idea.

Other then my idea for a Paleozoic poll, has there ever been one for the Cenozoic (not just mammals) yet?

Edit: I'm not seeing any in this particular forum for it at least. Would I be able to create a thread for both of these to see if there's enough interest and/or create short lists?

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, I don't think it would be possible at this point in time, see guideline #1 in the first post of this thread for why.

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim Ah thanks for the heads up about that. I forgot about that honestly.

I got to thinking, since it is a new year now, should a short list be started for the 2021 top ten poll?

It's not everything (I'm still behind on adding some of the Mattel stuff I think), but a good bit of stuff is here: https://dinotoycollector.com/Browse/Browse.php?Year=2021

In any case here's my current picks (though I may adjust this later, since the year has had a lot of good figures such as from CollectA, Creative Beast Studio, PNSO, etc):
Spoiler

CollectA Xiphactinus
Creative Beast Studio Pachyrhinosaurus
Creative Beast Studio BotM Pentaceratops
Creative Beast Studio BotM Triceratops (adult)
Dino Hazard Irritator
GR Toys Carcharodontosaurus (blue)
Mattel Jurassic World Apatosaurus
PNSO Parasaurolophus
PNSO Yutyrannus
Safari Ltd Baryonyx

Nearly mid November now. Should a shortlist for the 2022 top 10 poll start being worked on now, or should it wait a little bit longer? I know there's still the rest of this month, and December, which could see to it another PNSO release, and hopefully some of the BotM Tyrannosaur series, and the remaining fan's choice ceratopsians will begin shipping out before the year is over (fingers crossed). Edit: Potentially the Rebor Deinosuchus as well, if not anything else I am forgetting. Here's a quick look at a good amount of 2022's releases so far (let me know if anything important or major is missing):

Lots of strong contenders this year. Gonna be hard for me to pick only ten I think.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin Honestly, I think the poll could wait for late December or even early January. There might be some new releases during this time. The PNSO Deinocheirus was supposedly their last figure of the year and PNSO released the Therizinosaurus more than 2 months before the end of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if 1 or even 2 more PNSO figures were released.

I think the release of some of those BotM figures you mention could have an impact on the poll as well, and on another hand who knows if there will be another release here and there from other companies...

And yeah, definitely a pretty impressive year (for dinosaur collecting...that is).

Agreed, I'd give it more time. Colorata's Paleozoic box came out like December 20 2017. Wouldn't want to miss a thing like that.

I would wait until 2022 is over.  So the poll process could be started on 1 January at the earliest.

Lynx

Would a top ten Juvenile Dinosaur toys poll be too broad? Only purposefully juvenile creatures, thus no PNSO Nanotyrannus or figures that ended up being a juvenile of another species.

Ex. Figure of Dinosaur B was made 10 years ago, but two years ago Dinosaur B ended up being a juvenile of Dinosaur A. The figure of B still doesn't qualify, as at the time it was not made to be a juvenile.

In short, if the figure isn't labeled as/meant to be a juvenile, it doesn't qualify.

I'm not sure it would generate enough interest...  Most good dinosaur figures are of adults.  In any case, before a new top 10 poll can be made we need a top 10 video for the allosauroid poll from avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi and avatar_DinoToyForum @DinoToyForum.

About that, having a newborn baby in the house my spare time is severely limited. And when I do have time to devote to the forum/blog I'm using it to write/photograph reviews. That's not saying I won't do the videos, I still plan to, but it will be over a period of time.

Lynx

Had no clue making a poll at the same time as another was against the rules, my apologies.

avatar_Lynx @Lynx, the relevant rule is that there can be only three active polls at a time, it's the first rule ine first post of this thread.  No worries though.
