Superb collection Robin. What I would like to ask you where you got the saurolophus from Favorite I've been looking for it for years and I'm not able to locate that marvel, (I give it up).  :o

I already replied to that question on your thread weeks ago ( reply #3 http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=5466.msg163827#msg163827 )

If Robin, I think I know who you mean Brett but as he told me he's saurolophus can not be found today. At least that's what I understood. He told me that he is so solicited that all are unfortunately sold, and it is more than impossible to find it today. That is why I am amazed that you have achieved it fortunately for you today.

My favorite dinosaur dealer and Kaiyodo is Brett and he told me in a statement that it was impossible to find out how I mentioned it in the paragraph mentioned above.

It's always nice being able to complete a collection and not break the bank at the same time.

The Horizon Vinyl Elasmosaurus is at my home.
It was based, assembled and painted by Mr. Martin Garratt.  8)

First, the Base:

I asked to Mr. Garratt to use two Neko Works sharks: Hybodus and Stethacanthus.
These 2 sharks weren't from the same period of Elasmosaurus (they were long gone when Elasmosaurus appeared..).
But I didn't resist from adding fishes to the base and they are the only prehistoric sharks I found.
You can call it an "artistic license"..  ;)

Hybodus:

Jose S.M.

Great piece! And even if the sharks are anachronistic, they look really good, good call including them!

Protocast figures: Hylaeosaurus and Irritator.
(p.s. I'm lucky that they arrived safely to my home because the package was inadequate and they were bouncing inside the box - that's extremely dangerous for resin figures..  :-\ )

Irritator:

Hybodus isn't anachronistic! I sent those Neko Works sharks off to be repainted myself but haven't gotten them back yet. Hopefully soon. Very nice diorama.

..well, if you sent them to Martin Garratt, usually it takes a month to be ready because of the high number of commissions..
In the beginning I was a little bit worried about placing commissions to Mr. Garratt.
My first painting commission was to DTF member Copper and it was the worst decision I could do: I lost an expensive Shapeways figure (never got back) and I lost all my money.  >:(
Marilyn, Mr. Garratt's assistant, is a very gentle person.  O:-)
And the price of a commission is quite affordable thinking about the extremely high quality of his work.
Every Martin Garratt piece is really art.  8)

Wow. I've followed the "Repaints by Copper" thread... Why would he do something like that?

Congratulations.
The Elasmosaurus is wonderful.
Personally I would've chosen a round base for the circling sharks, but that's just my personal preference. Not that anyone cares.  :))
You are right about Mr. Martin's pieces being real pieces of art. His work is always very detailed and realistic looking.
I like them a lot. Who wouldn't?

And I'm glad you received your Protocast figures in one piece.
You win some, you lose some when it comes to postal services. But bad packaging is always a bummer...
On the bright side: both Protocast figures are really nice. And I like the pretty colours on Irritator.

Usually I left Mr. Garratt totally free about bases and details.
I trust on his experience.
I only chose colors for the main figure (Elasmosaurus).
A little bit of surprise..  ;D
