Have you ever wondered?
Have you ever witnessed?
Have you ever caught something out of the corner of your eye?

I am jumping into a project of my design. This project is to create a documentary in the same vain as Walking with Dinosaurs in regards to Cryptids. Cryptids are the animals for which enough evidence for their existence does not yet exist. The most famous of these would be Bigfoot, Chupacabra, and Nessie. Now, I know that this would seem not quite the right place (Dinosaur Toy Forum) to post this. But I figure that since some of the aspects of these fantastical creatures encompasses aspects of creatures that did and still do exist that maybe some of you might find this project interesting. On a side note, I am fully aware that the majority of reported Cryptids are fake and that most cannot exist, this project is to show these creatures in their life and habits, "AS IF" they were to exist. Thank you for giving me your time. (I hope that this is in the right section)

We also plan on using practical effects and cgi if that is feasible.

we are going to be dying down on that in future episodes.....sorry)

Even though not all of it is for real, anything to do with cryptozoology is simply fascinating stuff.

I think a WWD-style show about cryptids would be awesome to watch! It would nice to have something about cryptozoology without the theatrics of such shows like 'Finding Bigfoot'.

But wouldn't it be entirely theatrics? By the very definition, there is no definitive material about any cryptids (because then they wouldn't be crytpids), so all 'facts' are by necessity supposition, more so than depictions of prehistoric animals.

And I'm not trying to rain on parades--if someone has plans, make it happen, you do you and all that. My issue with cryptids is that there is an entire world of undervalued, under-appreciated, under-studied and very threatened animals that we do know exist, right now, with names and documented materials and research descriptions (of, yes, varying quality) that could really use some support, documentation and exposure. Just my thoughts.

It's good to see some other people on this forum are trying to make this type of series, good luck :)!

Very interesting project - cryptozoology is fascinating, for all its craziness and oft-bad science. I have to say, though, that for a cryptozoology site you do seem to portray a lot of animals more associated with fantasy. While I am aware of dragons cropping up in the field, other animals like phoenixes and unicorns seem to belong better to the category of mythology and fantasy.

After seeing this I looked again and...in the logo, there is a Dimetrodon. Is there something like this that pops up in Crypto circles? Because that seems unlikely.

Cryptozoology seems to have become very popular in the last few years with much publicity in the media, however the main focus always seems to be on the 'stars' as such for example Bigfoot or Lake monsters. I suspect it is mostly mostly incorrect identification of known creatures or happenings, I would suggest that if any large unidentified creatures emerge it would be from the oceans.

Yes, I wanted to include everything from the absolutely false to the possibly real. I figured it would be neat to try and fit some of the mythical creatures into a classification. I also plan on creating another website in which I have classified all or most of the "creatures" proposed by witness and the like. I will give them all latin names and evolutionary history.

There is a dinosaur-type cryptid reported from the congo that resembles a Dimetrodon. But the possibility of a surviving dinosaur is so low, that a surviving synapsid would be below zero. I just happen to like Dimetrodon so he found his way into the logo.

I figured I would try to make the film portion be as if these creature's existence was proven. Like we know all about their lives and what not. Similar to the animal planet dragon documentary with a WWD flare!

Cool idea! I've seen several very similar projects on deviantART - no WWD tributes though, that seems to be your own very original idea. I'm thinking that if I ever manage to make my own sculpts I'd do cryptids as well as prehistory. I've actually drawn interpretations of cryptids based on eyewitness accounts and theories in the past, so I can help with concept art if you like. ;)

I used to be into cryptids, but my favourite was always Bigfoot aka Sasquatch. I was a member of a sasquatch forum back in the day and I have lots of books dedicated to the subject. I have my doubts about whether they exist but for some reason Bigfoot was always the most compelling to me. Maybe because it's one of the few cryptids that we have an (alleged) film of (the female Bigfoot known as "Patty").

The topic of Bigfoot brings back fond memories for me I guess.

Here are some pictures of my footprint stamps I made. Unfortunately, they did not quite work the way they should have and I will have to work on them some more.

Crocodillian Prints: Two for the hands, two for the feet

Giant Deer Prints: If these were proportioned to that of a real deer, this thing would be dinosaurs sized!

Theropod Prints: Probably a Tyrannosaur
