Is that a vulture in the lower left next to the Shleich Dilophosaurus?

yes, it is. A Griffon Vulture, Gyps fulvus to be precise.

Pretty good. A bit heavy on Schleich though.

they are the only animal figures sold around here. I am slowly gaining more non-Schleich.

p.s. is it bad to have a lot of Schleich?

Nice collection! :)  And no, it's not bad to have a lot of Schleich, especially if you like them. :)

thanks! ok, I wasn't sure, I know how much hate they get.

I think one reason they get so much hate (like Papo) is that the production is really, really good. That might sound paradoxical, but with the amount of effort and love that clearly go into the production, people get frustrated when Schleich appears to give short shrift to anatomical details (proportions, number of toes, postures).

I also think that many people have your experience, which is to say that the local shop carries only Schleich. I think that frustrates people too, to an extent that they rip on Schleich somewhat out of proportion to their sins. But I think joossa is completely correct: you should collect what you like! I have figures from at least 20 different manufacturers, including several great-looking Schleich pieces.

I started out collecting quite a few Schleichs, but I tended to gravitate towards the more 'lifelike' brands (e.g. Papo and REBOR). I also collect Wild Safaris - I think they are the most balanced of all brands. Schleichs are a bit too inconsistent for my taste. They also have a wannabe Papo vibe to them. However, recently, Schleich made excellent Kentro and Penta models. Their newer T-rexes are also pretty decent.

Heh, ya. its suppose to be an alligator, but the jaw is all sorts of wonky. it honestly does look more like a Proterosuchus. :D
