The Edmontosaurus has some nice camouflage colouring. It turned out really well. Of all your recent endeavours, I like the Oviraptors the best. They look very natural and alive.

Thanks bud!

I think the smaller pieces allow me to be more creative in the poses so the pieces look more natural. It's something very difficult to achieve with larger pieces unless you have a good steel frame and maybe cast them out of fiberglass to reduce weight but keep them durable. Neither things are something I'm good at though.. :/

Very nice! You should pair it with an attacking predator, it looks as though it is defending itself.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Thanks guys!

Oh yeah, that was the pose we decided to go with to be more dramatic. It's probably reacting to the people viewing it...though it could be flustered by the Ceratosaurus it sees down the trail... lol  Considering maybe adding a nest it's defending or it's food ( I like the big termite mound idea  just gotta find out if that was something they could have ate).

Termites were definitely common and diverse in the late Cretaceous, so in that sense they certainly could have! The teeth might be counter-evidence, but I think it's a cool idea anyway.

Cool. Even in it's habitat of New Mexico? This guy was..coastal? I think as well?  Sorry I don't know much yet past where it was found and how. Haven't had time to reearch much past the bones and general behavior.

Well, yeah, the deposits were nearshore marine, lots of oysters and ammonites. They weren't great for preserving soft squishy invertebrates like termites, so I don't think we can say whether they were specifically in that area or not. I don't think we can say that Nothronychus was exclusively coastal, either, though--they could have just washed there along a river after dying upstream. So I wouldn't let that stop you if you want to build a termite mound.

That Nothro is just WOW, Blade! It looks very impressive all painted up and in place. I like the colours you've chosen, they're very natural and remind me of quite a few of the birds we get here in Scotland.  ;)

Good point. I try to be as accurate as possible in regards to what I show here but sometimes that prevents from being speculative. Let me try and figure out how best to construct one now.. lol Thanks!

Thanks bud! I'm digging it myself.. I'm tempted to name this one "Scott" since I use a LOT of his work and I think this is one of his favorites if not his favorite dino from reading his posts on DA.

Thanks bud! They were a lot of fun to do..lol I almost did them in a neutral down pose but my friend spoke and I listened!  ;D

irimali

I love the Nothronychus!

One suggestion on the termite mound though.  Mound building termites usually live in very well drained areas, like the savannah.  If Nothronychus was living on a coastal plain, it might be more accurate to show it ripping open a termite infested tree stump or an arboreal termite nest.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Thanks! I'll check those out and see if it's something we can do.  Termites here that invest tree stumps you really can't tell much til you break it open.

I did find art showing them going after termites but not sure where the idea came from :

One page says that animals the size of therizinosaurs couldn't live on a diet of insects?
Of course that page has a really interesting pic of a Therizinosaurus :

That's very likely the inspiration for it! lol

What I'm working on today...

jooooo

The termite thing is made up because people at one time thought its arms and claws might have been used to break open termite mounds. And maybe you could put a tyrannosaur fleeing from Northonychus, as if Nothronychus kicked its ass.

Interesting idea, I'd have to check and see what was contemporary..or close enough. I think I heard Tarasquesaurus once? Not sure I spelled that right.

jooooo

Tarascosaurus is an abelisaur from europe. There is a tyrannosaur from the same time and place as nothronychus, planet dinosaur called it Zunityrannus and it looks similair to a Dryptosaurus.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Ah I think were I to attempt a dinosaur like that I would go with Dryptosaurus itself or maybe Appalachiasaurus..if they can ever figure out what kind of arms it had..
