Should I ever find myself in TN or in any nearby state, I will definitely go visit and see and touch.

Glad to have you visit ! Just watch your fingers when touching ! lol

Calling this one " Chief " . He will probably be an older male Velociraptor..lot's of chipped teeth, missing scales and old battle scars. He will also be the sneaky one..a raptor who has learned a lot through experience..sometimes the hard way.

Legs are finished, minus the feet..those area added after the detailing so the ladder doesn't bang against them a lot..we actually managed to get a few of the  bumps on the skin done today before it started raining.

So it's also raining there. It's been raining here since last Friday.

My friend wants to know how you make the detailed scales on the skin.  He just lurks, but he's a member who doesn't post. LOL!

Yeah it held off for three or four days then started up last night..I try to work between showers but it's rough. I'm looking into adding a covered shed..problem is the dinos are as big as it would be.. lol

Cool. Which scales ?  The basic skin like on the Carno up there or  the  sculpted Velociraptor heads ?

Oh and here's a pic of the shop with various projects going :

docronnie

I think it was the Velociraptor.

I think it was the Velociraptor.

The Velociraptor heads are just Apoxie Sculpt. To make the fine scales I use a lead pencil end minus the lead and the larger ones are hand rolled balls I push into place then detail a bit.

Thanks a lot! I believe apoxie is not availabe here in my country. Will relay it to my friend. BTW you seem to be a fast worker aside from being a meticulous one. As always, your Carno's a thing of beauty already! :)

No problem. Our member Ingenia ( http://www.dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php/topic,99.0.html ) originally talked me into trying it. Glad I did.  The material is a bit pricey even to ship but I believe they sell internationally as well. Avesstudio.com

When you do little else work-wise it's easy to be quick...lol It's also a matter of learning your materials and getting used to them. We had a learning curve at the start of this Carno. It has a mostly fiberglass frame work. Something we hope to do with the tyrannosaur when we start it in a few months. That put me about 4 days off schedule. I hope to have this guy done next week.  Then I have a dead Carno carcass to complete the scene and painting to do..lol  I'm also hoping it's easier to move than it looks !
