Okay, now that I finally got the New Safari, I was able to compare them with some of my collection. First up is the Deaodon. This is a beautiful sculpt, the color is a little too simple.
I found that compared to the COllectA version, it looks less fearsome. If it was't clearly a male, I would pair it up with the CollectA as a female especially since the jaw bones is less pronounced than CollectA's. Or it could also be a mature male ^-^ that hasn't developed all those bumps yet.
In any rate, they do make a nice pair, and I love both of them since they represent two very different interpretation of the animal, with the CollectA one being the most closer to what I always think when I hear Deadon. Looking at skulls, they are both very accurate. I have seen some skulls with really large jaw protrusions. There is something very feline like quality to the Safari one.
The CollectA and Safari are about the same size, with CollectA just slightly taller. Both scarf the Mojo version seen on the last photo.

Next Up is the Amargasaurus. I love Amargasaurus, and was really excited about this figure... but there is just something off about it that is not making me like it more.
For sure it has a nice sculpt, I think it's the head paint that really bothers me the most ( I can't wait to paint it!), especially those lips being too high.
It is larger that all of the other Sauropods from the WS line so far. Oddly, it pairs up nicely with the CollectA one, they can be a pair ^-^

With the other larger Amargas from my collection and also with the other WS ones

Thanks for the comparisons! The Safari Daeodon is clearly the winner here in my view, it makes Collecta's version look like a campy Halloween decoration.

suspsy

I still like the CollectA Daeodon best, precisely because it's way scarier-looking. I think most five year old kids would probably choose the same.

Well, there you go! Good example of just how much personal preference plays into things like this  :)

Thanks for the pics with all the sauropods together. I really think if I had to go with an Amargasaurus I'd go with the Carnegie one since it's slightly more accurate then the Battat or Terra versions, and it is smaller then the Safari Ltd Apatosaurus. Just as I thought the new Safari Ltd one seems to be about the same size (give or take) as their 2010 Apatosaurus, which is enough to prevent from getting it, as it would take up too much space for additional figures for me.

I also find it interesting that the two Daeodon figures are nearly the same size, and have similar, but reversed poses (when looking at them from above). I prefer the colors of the CollectA one, but prefer the sculpt of the new Safari Ltd one.

The daeodon of Safari seems more real to me, that of Collecta is a magnificent figure but he plays the role of the nickname of the "pig of the underworld".

It should also be noted that the Mojo is not bad, it is a pity that this company is so irregular.

I really like the Amargasaurus Safari and it is superior to the one of Collecta with difference and with all my respects for the great company Collecta.

The amargasaurus Battat was sincerely a masterpiece of its time without detracting from that of Safari which is also very good. But keep in mind that the amargasaurus Battat is more than twenty years old.

What is that rearing Amargasaurus in the last picture, Bokisaurus?

PhilSauria

Just did a quick Google image search on the rearing Amarg and it seems to be a Shapeways figure. Thanks for posting these images. I really like the comparison groups showcasing how the various manufacturers interpret these animals. Variety is the spice of life; they each have pros and cons but will still try to find space for most of them, regardless of size.

They are indeed Shapway figures, there are different poses for the Amarga; I got the rearing pictured and a charging one. I painted the figures based on a horse colors. They are super awesome figures, its from the same artist who did the herd of duckbills seen on my sig below ;)

Bokisaurus

Okay, ready for more comparison photo?
Next up is the fabulous Mastodon. I really love this figure!
[]

And here he is with some other prehistoric elephants including extant asian elephant
[
I will post more comparison in the prehistoric elephant thread later.

Now, got these unknown marine reptiles from a seller on eBay. They are obviously "inspired" by figures from CollectA and Recur among others. However, I say inspire because they are not directly knock off figures where they were cast and mass produced. These guys are much much bigger that the original figures, as you can see, they dwarf the Safari and CollectA Kronos. and they are made of soft rubber with some type of filler, not PVC.

For those interested in extant animals that was part of the ice age fauna, here is the new Safari Musk Ox, beautiful figure.

Cheers!

Thanks as always for the images. I may pick up the Liopleurodon after seeing your images, as one of the Asian sites is having a sale soon. Yeah, as I mentioned in another post it is difficult to know what to call these figures as bootleg and knockoff do not seem to be terms favoured or deemed an accurate description. The Mastodon will definitely be on my next order to local supplier here Mini Zoo (in Australia) when they get stock in.

great pics as always Bokisaurus

what company makes that Asian elephant?

the way they painted up the head of the Safari amarga makes it look like its wearing a skull mask  :o

The Asian elephant is from CollectA.  ;)

I'm going to kick my Mojo entelodont to the curb and getting myself that Safari ltd. Daeodon.
What a great figure!
The CollectA one is too "Hollywood" for my taste.

Asian elephant is by CollectA, it's my favorite version of the species by far. Yeah, that paint job on the Amarga head is really off putting, can't understand why they made that call.

terrorchicken

^cool, I still dont have an adult elephant among my extant mammals collection and have always wanted an elephant. Might pick that one up. :)

Safari has great sculpts but their paint design choices(and application) are often questionable. Not crazy about all the white on the new Malawisaurus either.

Bokisaurus

Here we go, the new Safari figures compared to other figures. They are beautiful figures!

First up, the Megacerops. This is by far the best representation so far. Based on the classic, very rhino look, in fact if you take out the distinctive nose horn, it looks like a rhino ^-^
The figure is much larger that I expected, which is good since it was a large animal. Compared to CollectA version, it is smaller in size.
The CollectA version is more actively posed and the body is covered in hair, much like a bison than a rhino. I also like the CollectA's colors, something I wish this figure has more of. The accuracy of this figure is light years away from the rest as you can see. I love both the CollectA and Safari version, again just shows the different interpretation of the artist.
In style and colors, this is closer to the Mojo figure. The Geoworld figure is a reminder of what it should't look like: a wrinkly, overly covered with boil-like bumps! :))
[

Next up is theUintatherium. This is another classic looking figure. This time, the body is hippo-like instead of rhino. The figure is smaller than the megacerops, which it should be.
It is posed in a calm pose unlike the aggressive pose the CollectA figure has.
Again, the CollectA version is more horse-like in built, as well has having hairs on its body. The knobs on the head on the Safari figure is more conservative when compared to the more prominent one on CollectA's.
Both figures I love for the different interpretations, its nice to see a variety.
[
CollectA, Large Playvision ( another classic, that for the longest time, was the only large figure of this species), The ugly sister from Geoworl, the uglier sister from the obscure Yolanda line ;)

Dino fans, here we no take a look at the fabulous Regaliceratops. And what an amazing figure this one is! Everything about it is just perfect! It dwarfs the CollectA version in size, which is a shame, they would have made a beautiful pair. What the CollectA lack in size, it makes up with it's beautiful colors which I like.
The snout is shorter on the Safari version.
[

And here she is joining the rest of Dougs herd. :)
as you can see, it has a little bit more heft to it compared to the rest.
[

Lastly, back to the mammals, here they are with a couple from the original group

That's it! So with all these beautiful figures now available, I say it's time to skip those fancy dinners and go on a ramen diet to save up! ^-^ Cheers!

Jose S.M.

Beautiful shots! Safari is going to convince me to start to give variety to my collection. Now that I've seen the Regaliceratops in person and member photos I see that the horns and beak look more light colored and smooth in the promo pictures than they actually are, which is good because that was my only complaint, so with that out of the way it's a 10/10 for me.

Faelrin

I had no idea the CollectA Regaliceratops was so tiny. At first I preferred the CollectA's color scheme, but the more I look at both, I'm preferring the Safari Ltd one in that regard. It just looks much more natural to me, especially in regards to the head, where as CollectA's looks like it had warpaint painted on it. I do like the blue spots it has on its frill as well.

The Safari regaliceratops is extraordinarily cool!  8) The best done of its kind in terms of details, size and paleoartistically that, without taking away merit the great figure of Collecta. They look like the mother and the son / daughter compared. Fortunately, it is a voluminous dinosaur. I also like them without being excessively large voluminous figures of dinosaurs such as the Safari regaliceratops.

The regaliceratops and the Safari einiosaurus far surpass the Collecta brand, and I say this with all due respect to the Collecta brand and whose one of its most loyal followers I find myself, but we must recognize the reality.

Megacerops compared to the others it looks very well is at the same height of genius that of Collecta. Each company has its way of making the figures of prehistoric mammals. On the other hand Geoworld embolotherium seems to me a somewhat limited figure in relation to its quality and accuracy. The one from Mojo makes a good trio with the mentioned Megacerops of Collecta and Safari.

The uintatherium Safari is a very realistic representation of this figure and I like both the figure of Safari and that of Collecta. Yolanda's uintatherium is unfortunately chinasaur, (she was one of my first figures of prehistoric mammals in 1994: On the other hand, I lack the coveted and unavailable figure of PlayVisions. The one from Geoworld I think I'll never buy it, it's a very caricature

On the other hand I congratulate Bokisaurus for making those beautiful photos of those figures recently marketed in the toy market and is more compared to other companies.

It has been the year 2018 a great year for Safari and they have made figures out of series and very nice.  :D
