I notice on Amazon prices can get really insane, a lot of time I think the seller either bank on the artificial rarity or aiming for the stars and hope for the best.

That seems to be very prominent with UK based sellers on German Amazon. Saw someone trying to sell a Safari toob for 150 Euros, when it was available for 12 Euros from another seller.

Someone on eBay is also selling Dino Riders armor in very small parts. Need rocket? It's yours for "only" 20 Euros...
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

some sellers are just plain delusional.

Recently two "not-so-common" figures were sold on Ebay:

The Battat v3  v1  Tyrannosaurus

The Play Vision "large" Uintatherium

What do you think ?   ;)

CityRaptor

I say the seller made some good money.

Isn't that T.rex basically identical to the re-issue?

No, not really. The T. rex in that auction looks to be the v1 Battat Tyrannosaurus. It is a different sculpt, which features a bulkier head. The Battat reissue is the v3 version.

I don't know why the seller is referring to it as the third version.

I'm NOT a Battat expert at all.
In the Ebay auction the seller wrote:
" This is the 3rd and hardest to find of all the Battat T-rex dinosaur models produced.  As you know this model had balance issues.  The first issuance was a leaner and very difficult to keep standing. The second was produced with an ungainly foot pad to keep it upright and thispiece being offered; the 3rd, is perfect in all respects.  Model is perfect shape. Perfect condition. "
I don't know if right or wrong...

For sure it's not version 2 (because of the feet):

The 2nd version, the one with the snowshoes, was created because the v1 (shown in the auction) had issues standing up. I assume the v2 still had issues, so the v3 was created (and from that we get the reissue). That seller simply has the facts wrong.

The v1 is generally considered to be the rarest of the lot.

Neither am I :)

Tyrantqueen is correct that is version 1. V1 & V2 are identical except V2 had snowshoes attached below the feet that did not rectify the balance. V3 is leaner with a downward curving tail, closer foot placement and a more upright stance. The seller just mixed up the versions because it was my experience that V1 was the rarer and hardest version to snag so he is correct in that statement. I have all three.

You can see versions 2 & 3 next to each other on my latest post at Recent Acquisitions post, here :

Of course I wouldn't mind completing my collection with the V1 from that Auction ( V1 definitely ! )  -
But I certainly am not willing to spent THAT kind of money for that purpose...

Unfortunately I was one of the bid for both figures and lost.

The sad thing about this story is that I push for both figures. The uintatherium escaped me I wanted to bid at the last minute for a higher price than I had bid 70 euros and I went wrong there was another one that pujo stronger. The uintatherium bidder is a compatriot (for members of the USA forum) of Pennsylvania if I do not remember.

On the other hand tyrannosaurus rex Battat in the first moment won the puja but then canceled it, I offered 300 euros but then the seller told me that he was wrong about the version and that instead of the third was the first and the that interested me but less rare was the third because that as well comentaĆs had the figure up not what happens to the second and the first and canceled the operation.

In short I am sorry for one side but on the other I have saved a lot of money it seemed a sin to somehow spend such sums of money. Although honestly the uintatherium of Play Vision was a greedy figure to the maximum. A holy grail.  :(

The fact is that as I saw the announcement and I know what I went to publish it, but it has been an absolute recklessness. If the administrator of the forum or a member of the forum see that I have not erased some data compromisingor I beg you to let me know. What I said, I'm very sorry and I ask a thousand pardons.
