My congratulations to the company Collecta. I misunderstood thought I had only given the award for best figure to deluxe Collecta Prehistoric Times magazine Spinosaurus. It seems to have been the three Spinosaurus.

For me it's a great company that last year has surpassed itself and is deserving of this award.

Moreover the treatment received by members of the company and its distributors Collecta correct, cordial and friendly. Something that is appreciated. Unlike the prize with other companies deserve. Apart from this Collecta 2015-2016 Spinosaurus are great.

I only have the deluxe spinosaurus. I mean, it's not the best figure in terms of detail or material (and let's face it, the flesh inside the jaw looks really weird because it is rounded) but I love how collecta decided "Oh! Spinosaurus got a new look...let's show this to kids with a new figure!"
They really do try to be accurate, and that's great. However, they really need to give some treatment to their velociraptor....

Awesome news! Way to go, CollectA, the best dinosaur toy company!

I'll bet you the Beishanlong wins the award next year too! ;)

Some rather inaccurate news here...the Spinosaurs did not win , they tied or split first place with the model I said months ago was a serious contender, namely Doug Watson's sauropelta. No offense to Collecta, but credit where its due !
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

I love the Beishanlong,it's by far my favorite model for 2016,and probably the best one as well.I'd say it's highly likely that it'll win (unless a  Safari does).
I'm really happy that CollectA won this year. The efforts they made were incredible.Curiously,I'm getting the 1:40 Spinosaurus in just a few days.Haven't got the standards myself yet,but I might pick them up in the future.

Seems the Spinosaurus have won, after all.Where did you read that?

It is posted on Facebook as well as confirmed by Doug Watson himself, it was a tie, between the two.

The Sauropelta is also deserving of first prize. I'd much rather Doug make some more ankylosaurs than ceratopsians or theropods.

Thank you for that amargasaurus.
Here is the note I got from Mike Fredericks which he has also posted on Facebook.

"PT votes have decided the outcome of our PT PIX 2015 contest in Prehistoric Times magazine. Drum roll please. They have spoken and David Silva of Creative-Beast.com has won best new prehistoric animal model kit for his 1/24th scale Acrocanthosaurus resin model kit. The Wild Safari Sauropelta & CollectA Spinosaurus toy figures both received the same amount of votes. Instead of calling it a tie, I like to just say they BOTH won. Prehistoric Predators, written by Brian Switek and illustrated by Julius Csotonyi was chosen as your favorite book of the year. Congratulations to everyone. I hope all PT winners will brag loudly on the highest mountain to all who will listen. And lastly, PT readers chose Dakotaraptor as the most interesting new paleontological discovery of the year. PT readers who don't own all of these items don't know what you are missing (Yes, that includes a living Dakotaraptor in your house.)"

Where do I buy a living Dakotaraptor? EverythingDinosaur?  ;) ;) ;)

I have nothing against the Collecta Spinosaurus , but fair is fair, Doug won half of first with his piece, and it is deserving as well. So congrats to both winners , and thanks for the awesome models.

Concavenator

Well,a tie...But CollectA made 3 Spinosaurus,not only one.Whereas the Sauropelta,which is a great figure,is only one.

Sometimes less is more, or in this case, as the judges stated, equal.

They're both great toys and CollectA and Safari are both great companies. Enough said.

Awesome that Prehistoric Predators won recognition as well. Switek and Csotonyi are the perfect team.

I agree with you concavenator.

As for paleontological accuracy are the best toy companies. Safari and Collecta are with Papo my favorite companies, with the difference that Papo "improvise" in their figures. Many of them are mere creatures of science fiction.
