The big grey Apatosaurus is one of my all time favorite sauropods. ^-^ ^-^

Mine too.  It's a fantastic model!

Great, looks like I picked the wrong Apatosaurus! :P But to be honest, I think the color on the new one is better. It's colorful but not too unrealistic, and sauropods are reconstructed in grey too often anyway. But I do love the size of that thing! It's very impressive. I must say the Saltasaurus model holds up pretty well for its age, unlike most other classic Schleichs. It would be a nice addition to my collection... Ah, I keep saying to myself Schleich is not a good brand, but still they have some very nice models and I'll keep buying them.

Nanuqsaurus

Thanks to Roselaar I have two new armored buddies in my collection!

I'm glad to have the Glyptodon in my collection, the Schleich prehistoric mammals aren't always easy to find anymore. The Saichania is a replacement for the old one, which resembled Euoplocephalus rather than the actual Saichania anyway.

I also repainted my Torosaurus, which could also be seen in my repaints thread. It sticks out in my collection because of the new colors, but I'm happy with the results! ^-^

laticauda

Love the repaint.  Nice colors and look.  Looks much better than the original paint job.

Roselaar

Glad to have helped you out on the Schleichs. :)

And that's one awesome repaint! If Schleich produced their dinosaur figures with more interesting paint jobs like that, I might actually bother with them in stores rather than waiting to find them at flea markets...

AcroSauroTaurus

Looks a lot better with that coloration, I would have bought it sooner if it had that coloration. (I still don't have it.) ;)
I am the Dinosaur King!

Nanuqsaurus

Thanks! :D Glad you like the Torosaurus repaint! I've never done a serious repaint before this one, but now I think I might actually repaint more figures later.

I bought some new Schleichs for my collection last week! I was actually browsing the internet for prices of Papo dinosaurs, found the Brachiosaurus and Baryonyx for more than 30 euros! So I decided to compare the prices with Schleich... and well... actually ended up buying Schleich again. Schleich dinosaurs might be overpriced for their quality, but compared to Papo they're relatively cheap, at least in The Netherlands. I got three Schleichs for a lower price than a Papo Brachiosaurus, but I'm certain I'll add Papo to my collection soon enough! ;)

First one it the Anhanguera. It's a bit bigger than I expected, but I guess that's a good thing. The colors are kinda weird, so maybe this is a good candidate for a repaint! If someone knows a good, realistic pterosaur reconstruction I could use as an example, that'd be great! :) Position of the wings is also strange, but I've heard this can be solved with hot water. Might try that as well.

Next one is the Dimetrodon, with colors very similar to the Papo figure. Got to say the Papo Dimetrodon looks better, but I'd say this is not a bad figure either, pretty nice detail and with moving jaw.

The last one is the Brachiosaurus, sauropods were underrepresented in my collection so I'm happy to have this one! :D The new Barapasaurus will join the sauropod club later this year.

Some of the Schliech models are ok but they do tend to the monster type representations! I have the big grey sauropod or to be honest my son has and it's an impressive creature

I have the Pentaceratops and probably will get the Kentro in the future.  I live your repaint of Torosaurus,  I didn't care for that figure but that paint job makes me want to get it and try something like that.  I also like the mini carnotaurus but not it's color

The Kentro is definitely worth getting. It's one of my favorite Schleichs after the Pentaceratops. Glad you liked my repaint! :D The Schleich Torosaurus looks kinda weird with its standard colors, but it's not a bad figure if you apply some new paint to it! :P Maybe if I ever get really good at repainting, I'm going to repaint the Pentaceratops. The model is so good but why the red colors?! But I'm gonna need some practice first before I do that, don't want to spoil a good figure.

I agree with the red color, it's a little weird, but at least it's not bright red, that would be even worse. I hope you get confident and get enough practice to do it, because if it turns out like the Torosaurus it will be great, I think.

Schleich took inspiration (*cough* copied) from the petaceratops showcased in Dinosaur king, but they used red instead of orange to avoid copyright:

Great, that just ruined all my good feelings about that toy.

So after spending too much time on this forum, I was indoctrinated and now I somehow bought two non-Schleich figures. And I've gotta say that they are AMAZING.
But I still think Schleich is not as bad as most people say and I will keep buying it, but I just wanted to test some other brands and add a bit of variation to my collection.

First one is the Papo Styracosaurus. I love the details and colors on this one!

The other one is the Safari Yutyrannus. I wanted some feathered dinosaurs in my collection, because Schleichs are nearly always featherless or underfeathered. Fluffy Tyrannosaurs are the best, I wish there was some good Nanuqsaurus figure available somewhere! :P But Yutyrannus is a beautiful dinosaur as well.

I'm really happy with these two new figures, and I'll probably buy more Papo and Safari in the near future. Thanks to Everything Dinosaur for these beautiful figures, fast delivery outside the UK and friendly service! :D

Roselaar

Excellent additions! Both far superior to anything Schleich has to offer, of course. ;)

I still think is a great figure.

The Styracosaurus is amazing, I love it.

The other one is the Safari Yutyrannus.
I've never liked this Yutyrannus because the soft integument ends so abruptally that it looks like an scally teropod that uses a fluffy pijama.
So 50/50 for me.

I recomend to start with: Papo's Ankylosaurus, Dimetrodon, Carnotaurus. Safari's: Giganotosaurus, Nasutoceratops, Postosuchus

mmm... Kentrosaurus is a good contender I think...
Sobreviviendo a la extinción!!!

The Yutyrannus could indeed use some feathers on the head as well, but there aren't many other good Yutyrannus figures available. The Rebor one is horrible, it has almost no feathers at all. The Safari Nasutoceratops looks great as well, I already had my eyes on that one. The Postosuchus has amazing detail, but the quadruped pose is outdated.

I really like the Papo Carnotaurus and feathered Velociraptor. The Dimetrodon is nice but I already have the Schleich one, which is basically the same. Maybe I'll buy it later but it isn't top priority right now. :P I already have the Schleich Kentrosaurus too, really is one of the best Schleichs available.

Megalosaurus

Regarding the postosuchus pose:

Is so hard to imagine how can this front heavily built animal balance when not in movement. Is easier to think it stands in all fours, but get to walk in 2 as postulated by Chatterjee.
Sobreviviendo a la extinción!!!

stoneage

:) Could it be Postosuchus walked on four legs and ran on two legs when attacking prey?

Halichoeres

Or maybe the tail was a lot heavier than that diagram suggests? That would do a lot to balance the forequarters.
